They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Was just gonna say, where's our Gameday??
Anyone know why Price is 5th starter at the moment? Did he ramp up more slowly? Or just some "rewarding Sale/Eov?" I never saw rationale.

David Price has been ill. He's not injured, but his illness has put him behind and that's why he'll probably pitch an inning out of the pen first and then start the 5th game of the season against Oakland.

Great lineup from a sabermetic prospective. Best hitters second and fourth. Fifth best hitter batting third.

If I'm being nit-picky I'm swapping Bradley and Vazquez, but I agree that's a very solid lineup construction.

I'll be representing us at T-Mobile Park (changed from Safeco this year) for games 3 and 4 of the series. For all of the winning we did last year, I managed to see the Sox go 0-2 so here's to hoping for better outcomes this year!

Howdy all of my Red Sox friends...been waiting for this for a LONG time (well, since we won the series...never wanted it to end!). Patriots sure did their job creating a nice bridge - Bruins a pretty solid bridge as well. As for the Celtics...we'll leave that to the appropriate discussion area.
Ready for baseball. There isn't a facet of the team this year that won't be interesting to keep track of.
Play Ball!

Such a wonderful park - looks like they should be able to keep the roof open for all four games.

It feels absurd to be attending regular season games in March...which in Seattle, is usually not a great thing in terms of precipitation. That said, looking like decent weather so fingers crossed that holds true. Enjoy your games! Go Sox!! I hate every team the Sox play and wish the non-Boston base ball teams failure, turmoil and misery, except when they play NYY (or Hou).
So, with those ground rules set, let’s go!!

Will save me some concourse wandering time, because I am snotty/selective about beer. Unless I'm really thirsty, then pretty much anything without lumps in a pail will cover it....

Let the games begin!!
REPEAT is the mantra!!
Fiscally this is a 300 million dollar team with a great coach and a great clubhouse, this is going to be fun. Do some damage and have fun doing it!! I believe it is going to happen.

The other thing about this team is the youth, guys that are just coming in to their prime along with guys who still haven't even come close to their potential based on age. What a great combination for a team that already won the WS.
