Can’t believe they are losing this game when they put their best foot forward to try and win it.... “but they did this last year”. “What do you expect everyone to play all 162 games?” Blah blah blah.... you’re 6-10 and took the spring off and haven’t really shown up yet so the answer is yes, I expect a better lineup on the field Benny has a shin contusion, Jackie's sick, Cora hinted Nunez might be sick, Pedroia can't play second base every day anymore...what do you expect, not much to choose from today on who to play. I feel like the Sox being short in the lineup isn't their fault, but Cora compounding it by rolling out a 6th starter regardless is their fault. The Sox could have really used a Chris Sale start today.

This is somewhat what i expected this team to be at this time. It is the punishment we get from winning the World Series last year. This team is not focused at all this year so far. Poor hitting, poor fielding, mistakes on the base paths, spotty pitching and all around poor baseball. There is time to turn it around, but with the Rays playing almost flawlessly right now, they better hope they have a slump somewhere along the line because they are running away right now. There is so much that needs cleaning up and Cora saying "If you thought last year was good, wait till you see this year". Well...He was right about wait till you see this year. It is totally opposite of last year.

Anyway, if you can't go with a sixth starter in an 11am game against the Orioles then you're never gonna use a sixth starter.

LMAO can't even get mad at the Chris Davis bomb. It was obvious it would happen as soon as Cora had CVaz at 2B. You don't mess around in this game, you have to play to win and if you don't you'll have Chris Davis hitting bombs out of you in 2019.

Anyway, if you can't go with a sixth starter in an 11am game against the Orioles then you're never gonna use a sixth starter. I mean Chris Sale has as much of a chance as anyone in baseball at giving you 7 shutout innings. With your worst lineup out there and being already 6 games behind in the division, it might be a good time to NOT be conservative. Heath Hembree gives up a bomb. This is the reason why the Sox aren't a team built for bullpen days. This bullpen isn't really built for that. You're going to lose most of these games right now because the quality you're rolling out there isn't great.

There is so much that needs cleaning up and Cora saying "If you thought last year was good, wait till you see this year". Well...He was right about wait till you see this year. It is totally opposite of last year. I get that there was going to be impact to the rotation. Not surprising although I didn't think they'd be this bad, but at some point - I guess what I'm saying is did the Astros play this poorly out of the gate in 2018? They won the Series the year before and they played in grueling 7 game sets against the Yankees and Dodgers and even the Red Sox almost pushed them to a 5th and deciding ALDS game. I think perhaps there was too much in the way of kid gloves or maybe they're could have been a better way to stagger the rotation's workload? But that doesn't explain the poor defense, the poor baserunning, and how unexplosive the offense has been. Last year, when they'd have an inning, they would HAVE an inning. This year they get dribs and drabs of offense, but it hasn't been the same. Mookie made that offense go and this year he has been passive and the lineup just hasn't ignited. It'll get better at some point, but you have to wonder how far they'll be buried before it does. They're already 4 games out of a wild card spot, and about 6 - 7 games out of 1st and the way they're playing - they couldn't do better than split with inferior Blue Jays and Orioles teams at home, you wonder how they'll fare against Tampa at Tampa, the one place that even the 2018 Red Sox got swept at. And I don't want to overlook the Yankees. Normally given how banged up they are, you'd think the Sox would roll in and take both games. At this point I'd settle for one (as long as they don't give away the other).

I can sort of understand wanting to stay in a “it’s a long season” mentality but like you can only give away so many games to the Orioles before your season ends at the trade deadline. And while I still don’t think that’s going to happen, the probability gets higher with each loss.

i forgot that pedroia's initials stand for double play : ( He led the team in GIDP in his last healthy season in 2016. He pulls a lot of grounder and he lost a step so I'm always stressed when there's a runner on first base and less then 2 outs lol

Pretending like the team’s awful and storming back later in the season is a bold strategy.

The thing is, if the starting pitching had performed anywhere close to its expected level, the team is probably close to .500 and no one is that stressed out about these things.

This bullpen never gave you a chance today. we've scored 1 run on 3 hits The bullpen has given up 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings today. I mean, that's really not getting you anywhere.
