Boyd’s been nasty so far this year - like Blake Snell nasty. 13.42 K/9 with a 2.61 xFIP.
This should be interesting.

Rob Bradford Verified account @bradfo Lineup: (Game 1): Benintendi LF, Betts CF, Martinez RF, Bogaerts SS, Pearce 1B, Chavis 3B, Vázquez DH, Lin 2B, León C, Sale P Reading that lineup from top to bottom, my expression is a broad smile that slowly turns into a look of horror.

great...Sale having trouble putting guys away quickly. 32 pitches already with no outs in the 2nd...could've really used some length today

Sale may never been an ACE ever again. He might just be a 3/4 going forward.

Guys get good looks and long at bats vs Sale. He cant put guys away easily or fast anymore (yet). A guy like Peterson would NEVER have had a 10 pitch at bat single against Sale at any time in the past

Wow. Way to take 4 pitches to get through that inning and send Sale right back out there. Pathetic. 4 total pitches for the 3 outs. Wow

Boyd has 14 pitches over 2 innings. Detroit has a sketchy pen. But let’s all keep swinging on the first pitch.

Eck’s commentary makes me laugh out loud sometimes. “Pair of shoes” is a killer one.

first pitch swinging is fine if you swing at a meatball; but benny swung at pitch in the dirt, ugh. better not squander this
edit: thank you Mookie!

Geez. I guess we’re back to first pitch swinging. I think Eck nailed it. They are going up looking for a first pitch slider and getting it. Mookie and Chewy Lin hits both were with slider swings.

The fastball is so flat and hittable from Sale. Slider has been good today but the fastball doesnt scare anyone right now so they can sit on it.

Thats 46 sliders from Sale, compared to 32 fastballs and 14 change-ups
