You may be right, but his last chance to cash out will be next year. I think he likes money more. We will see. He 25 million the first 2 years here. He's only owed 60 million for the final 3 years (20 million a year). I think if he wants to get paid last time, he's opting out. ADD: With Porcello likely off the books and replaced by somebody cost controlled like Darwinzon and a big reduction in what's owed to Panda as well as Moreland, Pearce, Nunez and maybe Holt all being replaced by cost controlled players, the Sox will likely have money to spend. Not with a potential Mookie extension and raises to guys in arbitration. Barnes will be in year 2, Benny will be in year 1, Eduardo will be in year 2, JBJ will be in year 3. Xander and Sale also have huge raises that are already under contract, the Sox will have little wiggle room. I have a feeling the Sox will have to pick between Mookie and JD if they want to spend one more time.

He likes it here and Price didn't opt out. You may be right, but his last chance to cash out will be next year. I think he likes money more. We will see. He 25 million the first 2 years here. He's only owed 60 million for the final 3 years (20 million a year). I think if he wants to get paid last time, he's opting out. Im not as convinced as you. I certainly think it’s possible. But the offseason this year wasn’t exactly encouraging. His market is limited a bit by his mediocre OF play, the price tag (obviously, he’ll want more than $22M AAV), and his age. Tougher for him to get another 5-yr deal at 32 than it was at 30. He’s also had a drop in power, though I don’t put much stock in that, and his K rate is much improved without any change in BB rate. We’ll see...he may not opt out and the Sox May still tack on a year or two.
