Poof - the zero is gone. A 1...or a 2? Weird game (there have certainly been lots of weird games so far this year)
Well, it is a one (for the moment). Raffi time?

That is some laws of physics-defying nonsense right there.

How does that ball not go over the fence? Seems to defy at least one law of physics.

we've had a few weird things happen this year on balls hit to the wall...just part of a weird year in general

Why is there padding on that wall that high? It seems to deadened the ball in its track.

Lol thank goodness the Sox are in KC tonight with that fly ball. right before the pitch, which was an elevated fastball and the main thing Hembree does, the KC broadcast put up that Soler leads the league with an .811 slugging on pitches up in the zone. Then, he just missed one...not sure why that was the matchup Cora wanted, but at least it was an out.

Benni is really striking out a lot this year. Last year 106 K in 148 games, 579 AB
This year already 61 strike outs in 54 games, 215 AB - significant increase

And to cap off the wierdness of this night, we have Nunez with a bomb. Simply amazing. (PS I was already planning my post when he hit into the obligatory DP - shows what I know! )

Okay, well. I guess that wasn't a horrible at-bat by Nunez...

I will never chip on one of our guys for hitting a HR, esp a guy like Nuñez, but this will get Cora to start him now.

I will never chip on one of our guys for hitting a HR, esp a guy like Nuñez, but this will get Cora to start him now. To be honest, Chavis' shine is starting to wear off. He seems more like Wade Middlebrooks than a starting 2B lately. And that's definitely not an endorsement of starting Nunez. As long as Holt is getting the long side of the platoon, I'll be happy.

Workman - only 8 hits in 27 innings pitched. Super efficient...having a quietly outstanding season, something we were not counting on.

Chavis is walking the trail that any reasonable person could have anticipated: after starting off hot, the league adjusted, and now he's trying to figure it out. I'm waaaay more interested in seeing if he can figure it out (and throwing some decent defense into the bargain) than I am in seeing Nunez do anything on a baseball field.
