Nice win but damn it seems like forever since Mookie has been great. He had a frankly poor postseason and has been only above average through the first third of this season. That is a long time. Has there been any thought as to what is going on? I keep thinking tomorrow but tomorrow hasn't come. He’s on pace for 4.6 WAR still this year. He’s not going to win MVP but I think people are going a bit overboard criticizing him. Last year was a best case scenario for Mookie. He isn’t going to put up 10 WAR seasons regularly like Trout. He’s still a phenomenal player. 6+ if you give combine what he's done with his rest-of-season projections. The problem is and the only critisism I have for Mookie is that he wants to be paid like Trout. I have no problem with that at all.

I’m still concerned overall about this team; the performances of Mookie, Beni, JDM, Sale, Rodriguez, Porcello, Chavis’s (fairly predictable) fall to earth...it’s all pointing to 88-90 wins, and a real risk of finishing out of the dance. But if some of these guys...like JBJ getting hot, Sale tonight, Rodriguez the other day...up their game, it’s a whole different story. It’s what makes this team both compelling and frustrating. There’s HUGE talent. An extended groove, and these guys will put up stupid W%s. Like Houston last year, I could certainly see an incredible second half that has them close to or even over 100 wins. If (when) they click, they’ll be nasty. Can't say this looks like an 88-90 win team to me. They're 21-12 in their last 33 games. That's a 103-win pace over a full season. If they play at that level the rest of the way, they'll finish at 96-66. If they play at the level they played last season, they'll finish 99-63. That's pretty optimistic, but honestly, they had some pretty big weaknesses last season - C, 2B, 3B - and they've improved at all of them. The starting pitching now looks just as solid as it was last year. JBJ has hit his regularly scheduled turnaround. And if Mookie and Beni have underperformed, well, it's not hard to imagine those particular guys picking up the pace. I hope you’re right. I’m usually an optimistic one on here, so in this instance I’m probably gonna need some others’ optimism to carry me through. Could just be a lasting hangover from their start...so ugly it’s hard for me to completely forget. But, as you say, the talent is clearly there and if they play to it, this team should be right in the fight all the way. Tbh, a rebound run would be even sweeter than last year, given the hole they’d dug themselves...maybe just to up the difficulty level? 🤣

So Bogaerts is, with little fanfare, putting together a tremendous season right now. He has quietly been our best player through the first ~40% of the season.

By the way, SSS and all, but Benintendi is hitting .350/.458/.450, 148 wRC+, in the 5 games since he moved back to batting second. I was against that move but maybe I'm a dummy and Alex Cora is a genius.

Home plate ump is generous so far, hope Porcello gets the same strike zone.

Ouch. Nunez just destroyed a ball 110 mph off Duffy's knee.

i hope another win streak isn't ended prematurely because we have to rely on guys like Ryan Weber every fifth day...

Weber is in no way a big league pitcher. The fact that this is the guy the organization has settled on to make these starts says something alarming about their decision making.

It’s ridiculous that we are trying to get back in the race and keeping running Weber out there. Need to find a better option or at least try to find one

Why didn't he send Benintendi home on that double by JDM? Would have scored standing.

Mookie just destroys Duffy. I was at the game last year when he hit three HRs off of him. Also, Weber is not a big league pitcher. Eovaldi should be back soon, thankfully!
Meanwhile, Devers keeps mashing!

I think what it mostly says is that their #5, 6, 7, and 8 starters are all injured, and they don't have any good pitching prospects that are ready for the majors.

Filthy breaking balls by Brewer to K Gordon. He's a weird pitcher.
