There is a local story in the Lakeland ledger regarding county prospects when the post earlier mentioned Zach Schneider had signed. it was from draft day, 6/2 and that since then Jenkins HS C Jacob Herbert was the best prospect here and "projected" to go rds 8-12 believe it said. (George) Jenkins is a central Florida powerhouse as far as baseball goes generally and produces many drafted players.
The article also mentioned a possibility Schneider being drafted and said nothing more than was a side arming RH closer for Florida Atlantic, not a really big school.

Arkansas baseball eliminated today, freeing Cody Scroggins to sign. Today he went 1 inning, allowing 1 H, 1ER, 1 BB, 1 K. On Saturday Arkansas lost 1-0 to FSU. He gave up the 1 run in 1 inning.
Vanderbilt plays against Mississippi tomorrow night. Stephen Scott went 0-3, playing LF and batting 6th yesterday.

Now that looks like a violent delivery even without seeing the motion. Bet it’s a REAL uncomfortable look for RH though. Maybe lefties, too...lol, he looks like he’s throwing right at them 🤣🤣

Isn't this early for a UDFA? Sox must have meant to draft him or something. It is not. Biondic and Baker signed on June 21 and 22 last year.

does anybody know what Chris Murphy signed for out of San Diego in the 6th round? I'm trying to figure out how it will be at all possible to get Keane or any of the other guys extra money if they demand it because my records only show a savings of around $55,500 on rounds 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8....hopefully they save between $150,000 and $200,000 in rounds 9 and 10...who knows about round 4....but they will need to have close to $500,000 in combined extra pool money if they are looking to sign 3 or 4 of these post-round 10 guys, no? Those calculations sound about right to me. I’m guessing (hoping) Keane for $400-450k (275-325 over), and 250-300 for two others (so 250-350 over). I think they can net a fair amount on Song and Scroggins; Scott should be around $5k-10k; if Song signs for $200K and Scroggins for $50k (he’s a redshirt jr, so he has some leverage, but not as much because of his age), that’s roughly $430k. Song might even go for less because, essentially, his only leverage is refusal to sign, and more or less giving up baseball. He’d have probably a tougher time petitioning for reserves as a FA/Indy leaguer, and at 24 he’s not going to be too high on anyone’s list since he’d be 26-27 when he reaches MLB, if he moves aggressively...after 2 years off. I’m still hopeful they can squeeze $550k out of that group and get 3 HS guys from 11-20.

When will you update the prospect rankings with the new players?

I really enjoy when the rankings get refreshed with new drafted/international prospects.

July 1, which will include draftees who sign before that date. Likely will also have a July 15 mid-month update to include draftees who sign on or after July 1 plus potentially some July 2 international signings.

Daniel Bakst posted on Instagram that he's at Jetblue, so I would assume he is signing.

Daniel Bakst posted on Instagram that he's at Jetblue, so I would assume he is signing. Huh. Like, in the clubhouse too. It's possible this is something of a recruiting visit, but I didn't even think we'd get there to be honest. Although I'm inclined to think it's more likely you're right and this means he's signing.

Daniel Bakst posted on Instagram that he's at Jetblue, so I would assume he is signing. Whhhat? Thats a surprise. Chris has a point that it could be a visit of sorts....Rikard mentioned they were simply interested in gauging his interest in pro ball, he certainly didn't sound super optimistic about signing him. That said, I hope he's signing...talented dude.

MLB.com Draft Tracker has Will Dalton signed for 135k but SoxProspects Draft History has him signed for 130k. Anyone know which is correct?

There doesn't seem to be any stats or info on Daniel Bakst for 2019 except for places that referred to him as a 3B.

Hit pretty well as a freshman at Stanford For him it’s a question of how much he wants to play baseball Yup, I'm basically going to reiterate this with some links. Bakst was a major player on the HS circuit as a prep SS from NY. Out of HS in 2016, he received a PG Grade of 10 from Perfect Game and ranked #108 overall I believe among prep players. He was also ranked in MLB's Top 200 draft prospect list that same year coming in at #186 overall. Bakst had a pretty successful freshman year hitting .311/.369./.439 (14.4% K-rate), but then struggled with the bat in limited PAs during his Sophomore year although found some success pitching in relief (1.04 WHIP in 14 appearances). Like cdj mentioned, he didn't play this past year for reasons unknown. He's a legit talent and very cerebral too (see here). PG summary writeup from 2016:

You figure a kid at Stanford might be less inclined to transfer if he's not thrilled with his current baseball situation than a kid at another school. I recall at Brown there were plenty of kids who would just quit the team (no scholarship meant it happened more often than at a school where you'd lose that money by quitting). Maybe he figured his family could afford Stanford, so he'd just graduate. Good on whoever the Sox scout is there (the three Cali guys are Josh Labandeira, Jim Woodward, and JJ Altobelli) for having seen him and keeping him in mind. Could be tremendous upside there for an atypical pick.
Julian McWilliams, who is going to be joining the Globe's Red Sox team at some point (he announced it but just kind of hasn't yet - must have other obligations to finish), apparently has ties to the kid. Family friend or some such. He said the following, then answered Ian Browne's question about why he didn't play with simply "burnt out"

Keane finished off his HS career in style last night....North Andover are the state champs (as an #8 seed barely sneaking into their tournament). He dominated as a starter in two of the tourney games and pitched in relief last night striking out 6 in 3 innings. Congrats to Sebastian!
I imagine they'll make him an offer now or soon depending on whether the savings from Song, Scroggins, and Scott are clear. Personally, I doubt he signs for less than 500K but you never know. I'd also imagine other offers (Rounds 12-16) are somewhat on hold until he makes a decision.

Good call.
In this situation especially, the trip to Fort Myers could be the "check in," so let's not assume he's signing.

The scholarships the Sox could offer could conceivably be the decider here. (Bakst)
