They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

As much as I think the Red Sox will stomp on birds the next 7 days, tonight would be a gutsy win to come back from an exhausting marathon of a game that ended in complete and utter disappointment. It'd be very easy for them to just not show up tonight.

Controversial topic - but how much does mental fatigue - answering questions nightly of "why aren't you better"? Pressing - lots of the players trying to hard to win it with one swing, pitchers feeling the need to be too perfect. Benny and Mookie's fielding fogs this year (relatively speaking), JBJ last night as the most recent adventures in baserunning. One wonders if the awful start and need to catch up has just put the team in a bad place in their heads. Just a thought...they've played much of this season like their heads are up their collective butts.

True......
But I can't imagine being in the Bigs making 20 million per either.

True...... But I can't imagine being in the Bigs making 20 million per either. I mean, I get crapped on for free in my daily life, so sign me up, but I'd imagine that there's an insane amount of stress and pressure when you're being paid that much. Greinke missed a year with anxiety. I can't imagine Chris Sale is super thrilled having an ERA of 4.20 and being blamed for this team's lack of success after signing that massive extension. I mean, take the money all day, but he can't be feeling great.

NOW they're trying to win.
First base is a problem right now, and Travis is not an MLB player. Moreland can't get back soon enough.

He might have a -1.3 WAR, but his intangibles are worth at least 5 games. Terrible move.

Read this carefully ..on NESN
Nunez has been a reliability this season, however, as he never was able to find his stride. The 332-year-old hit just .228 in 60 games with a pair of home runs and just 20 RBI with an OPS+ of 42 — nearly 50 points below his career mark.
(Wow, didn't know he was so old!) 😁

How strange is it at how we had a black hole at 3rd and catcher last year. Only to completely turn it around and now that seems to be the only bright spots (exception to Xander)

Man. Chavis has a glaring hole right now, but don't miss.

yea...he located all the other fastballs up to Chavis, according to the gameplan, and then missed with the 7th right down the middle. It was mashed.

This kid makes a great play defensively every game now, seems like. What a turnaround.

Ricky just can’t let us have nice things.
Welp, at least they’ll understand they need to score after the first inning.

There’s no way Porcello is gonna cough up a 5 run lead again is there?

Who's worse, Toronto or Porcello? So far, Toronto.
