Here are the wRC+es for every Yankee hitter with at least 100 plate appearances:
159, 139, 138, 135, 129, 127, 117, 116, 115, 110, 106, 105, 98, 52
How is that possible? Mike Tauchman at 127 (one point better than Mookie Betts). Giovanny Urshela is 116. Luke Voit at 135. It's maddening. Doesn't even count Stanton at 132 in 38 PAs.
That's Encarnacion at 98, by the way, and Romine at 52.
ADD: Urshela, Tauchman, LeMahieu, and Maybin are all at least 33 points above their career wRC+. There are exactly 3 Yankees below their career marks: Sanchez (106 vs. 120), Encarnacion (98 vs. 126), and Romine (52 vs. 62). Every single other guy is at least a few points above.
ADD2: Oh well I guess Voit is 5 points below his career mark. But considering his career basically consists in being given away for nothing by the Cardinals and then raking to the tune of a 187 wRC+ last season, that's hardly comforting.
ADD3: If you were wondering, Betts, Martinez, Benintendi, Bradley, Leon, Pearce, and of course Nunez are all below their career marks. Bogaerts, Devers, Holt, Vazquez, and Moreland are above. Which is a lot closer to how random distribution is supposed to work.

Dumb question, is this a potential DFA game for Porcello? If he goes out there and gives up 8 runs in 3 innings, could the Red Sox part ways or continue to ride him? I guess the immediate answer is they have no one to take his spot, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go out and acquire another starter immediately after the game.

I don't see it that way, all it would do is solidfy Red Sox FO plans for 2020 by not bringing him back.

Gardner was also put on the IL today. No Sanchez or Gardner. So maybe whoever replaces them will swing at pitches instead of bitching about every called strike. Lol I don't think I've met one Red Sox fan that respects or likes Bret Gardner. It'd be funny that in a series where Sanchez is killing the Sox, we'd be crapping on Gardner. I totally get it. Gardner is definitely my top 5 most hated MFY. No one tops this list than Jorge Pasada. I feel bad when players get injured, but I for to admit, I laughed for 5 minutes straight when I saw a ball hit him in his big fat nose running to first base that landed him on the DL back in the day. Nick Swisher was that guy for me. But Gardner comes close. Also, Tulowitski retired today (or recently).

Good news. Porcello has already gone twice as long than his last outing against NY.

i am glad to have lived through the proliferation of watching Sox baseball from the days where I used to watch a Sunday game on a Boston TV Station that somehow got transmitted to a NY market (can't remember) to the advent of baseball on cable (ESPN) to Direct TV to the now amazing MLB.TV.
Yet somehow I still get screwed being in a NY market, despite all of the above. F U MLB...get me my team without having to pay for bullshit cable. I am sure there are ways, but GDmit.
Oh...Go Red Sox....Xander is the MVP....and F**k the New York Yankees.
