So, Price, how'd reigniting the Eck feud go for ya?

So, Price, how'd reigniting the Eck feud go for ya? He’s so petty that it makes it hard to be a fan.

So... serious question. What now? Something has to give. This is nicking Cora, the coaching staff, maybe DD. Sit the vets and play the kids? Uncharted territory here . .

So, Price, how'd reigniting the Eck feud go for ya? I must confess to a personal bias against Price. He has been a thin-skinned hypersensitive whiner all the way back to his time with the Rays when he made a derogatory comment about Papi thinking he was bigger than the game. In the offseason he called Papi and apologized and said everything was cool between them. Then he hit Papi in the back at the start of that next season. Because I root for the name on the front of the jersey and because Papi forgave him. I, with great reluctance, accepted him as Red Sox player. I also felt some sympathy for him based on what I felt was negative over-reaction to his post season record. His recent outburst reignited my dislike. Tonight's outing was predictable. Another prediction is that he'll be defensive with the press.

He only appears "well" because the others have been so lousy. Especially lately. And lately he had a nice run. But weren't we expecting better from ERod this year than a 4.19 era?

Maybe in Chris Sale's team meeting, they were discussing their October vacation plans.
As far as Price goes - if you believe in karma - then he had this coming. I was really annoyed when he said crap about Eckersley again. Serves him right that he hasn't won since. I enjoy rooting for him as much as I enjoyed rooting for John Lackey. The weird thing is that they both had their "redemption" story and both won the clinching game of the World Series (Carl Mays did so in 1918 and he was another disagreeable character so Lackey and Price would have fit in perfectly!). Of course the redemption story could only last so long - Lackey was dealt away in 2014 and nobody missed him. Honestly if the Sox did the same with Price I wouldn't miss him either although it would probably hurt the team.
As far as the team goes, they have really carved themselves up a monument to their 2019 season. This sh!tshow they've done the past week (to me this is amazing I came back last Sunday from a vacation in Maine - they haven't won since I was in friggin' Maine!!!)
I wish I could come up with another word for "gutless" that works. I mean I don't think any individual on the 2019 Red Sox is gutless. And that's not the word I'd like to use for their way of coming up small against good team, particularly the bastards wearing pinstripes (4-11!).
I know their pitching sucks, but it sucks extra bad when they face that team - and against Tampa (that 1-8 home record is embarrassing).
Their way of not hitting in the clutch and giving up the big hit, the big inning - man I wish I knew what word to use in place of gutless.
Just awful.
They've put me in a place where I just don't give a crap about the 2019 Red Sox anymore.

Definitely time to pull the plug. Whoever can come up for audition, let them come. Spend the rest of the season keeping guys healthy for next year. Skip starters. Sit relievers for stretches. Let the Josh Smiths or Webers throw out their arms, but don’t waste Workman, Barnes, er, maybe that’s it?
At this point, you may as well tank and get as good a pick as possible.
Never thought it would come to this.

But weren't we expecting better from ERod this year than a 4.19 era? 3.61 ERA since the end of April, so although you can't completely ignore his April starts where he was dreadful, he's been trending the right direction all season long

Great job management being active during deadline team has really responded in positive fashion Did you want them to get five new starters? Because other than doing that, I’m not sure anything else would have helped.

I don't know what the home run party has done to eras across the board. I would think 4.19 in the ALEast would be considered piching well. In addition he really has stepped up when the Sox needed. Anyone know his ERA+?

In happier news, the Sox’s futility has helped Happ get his ERA under 5.00 in honor of his new baby.

At some point, you can say oh, he gets support or yadda yadda yadda, but hey, the Sox are a winning team when he pitches. I’ll take it.

Jbj's catch was outstanding. He really ran it down. Hes not hitting but his defense is still good.

I'm starting to wonder if this team gets blown up in the off-season. If they keep losing like this.

Other good news: little Yaz is playing well for the Giants. Does that count as sort of good Red Sox news?

Never thought it would come to this. Come on folks. It's August 5th. If we fell out of it in one disastrous week we can get back in one in one great week, especially with KC and LAA at Fenway the next 7 games. Remember the 2017 Dodgers who had that bizarre stretch where they went 1-16 in August/September? They ended up in the World Series. Why not us, says me.

You can't blame Price. He was not at yesterday's players only team meeting.

Damn. I came pretty close to feeling sympathy for a Yankee there.
ADD: Oh right, I'm the only one still watching the game. See what happened was, Urshela fouled off consecutive pitches off of each of his knees, and looked to be in serious pain after each one.

You can't blame Price. He was not at yesterday's players only team meeting. Price's performance in last 10 starts: 45.1 innings,.900 OPSagainst and 6.55 era. Since his Eck attack 4 starts, 20 runs in 17 starts. He shoulders plenty of blame.
