It's been like a month now and I still feel like those hats just look like they have a weird glare on them. I adjust how I'm looking at my screen every damn time.

Yes, that was what I was trying to say - the logo-within-a-logo doesn't work on their hat. From more than two feet away it just looks like glare or weird discoloration on a couple spots on the B. My man GQ Liu looks good in any hat though.

He looks like he's 13 or 14. As someone who was 13 or 14 only a bit more than a decade ago, I can confirm I looked like a baby compared to him then. He does seem to have a very athletic build. Excited to see if he looks like a potential late inning arm.

Liu Chih-Jung from his start on August 11th for Salem. He went 5 innings allowed one hit, walked two and struck out 10.

As a Taiwanese I will say this: while I'm stoked about Liu pitching well these past few weeks, I'm very concerned about his health in the future. Even the best Taiwanese pitchers like Chien-Ming Wang and Wei-Yin Chen get hurt eventually. Great pitchers in Taiwan often get overused when they're in middle and high school, so when they go pro their bodies can't hold up (but the success rate of Taiwanese pitchers in the bigs is, surprisingly, higher than position players) But who knows, maybe that coach that shut his arm down for a year saved his career. I am still very excited to see a Taiwanese in the Sox system tho, hopefully he makes it!!

Is he hurt? I feel like he hasn’t thrown in awhile. He’s a very interesting follow.

If he doesn’t make the next one, maybe injury, but otherwise, I’d assume simply a skipped start.

Liu's last 7 starts in Salem: 32.1 IP 25H 8ER (2.23 ERA) 9BB 40K
He's actually had a pretty good year if you remove his clunker on July 24th (8 ER given up in 0.2 inning).

In honor of Carl Gustav, I think we should call Liu's out pitch "The Shadow".

Sorry to drag this thread back from obscurity, but at least I have an obscure question to do it with...
If I were to address "Liu Chih-Jung" by his given/personal/non-family name, which name of his would that be? I understand some Asian cultures utilize the family name first, but I've seen it written both ways and I'm not sure which way is the first-name-first and which is the last-name-first.

His given name would be “Chih-Jung” chee-jung. Liu is a super common last name in Taiwan as is Lin and Wang. Chien-Ming Wang pitched for the Yankees, but in Taiwan, he’s “Wang Chien-Ming”

Now that someone's brought this thread back to life, I wanna ask, is it just me that thinks Liu has a great chance to break out this year and at least reach Double A. Maybe I'm biased because I'm Taiwanese, but his stuff last year looked at least somewhat back to pre-signing levels

My wifes first name was Chong and her family name was Kim. Her middle name was Ae. here we would say Chong Ae Kim, but in Korea it would be KIm, Chong Ae.
