The Boston lineup or the Worcester lineup?
So long Marwin, we hardly knew ye.
EDIT: Chris Cotillo also tweeted the same and it appears Schwarber will be in Fenway tonight, skipping his rehab.

That turned out to be one of the briefer rehab stints that I can recall.

Goodbye Marwin. This is a win no matter who replaced him. Now do Davis Robles and Richards...

That turned out to be one of the briefer rehab stints that I can recall. I kinda sorta believe that rehab stints are a deadweight loss for baseball teams, for most injuries. It seems that guys usually beat up on the minor league pitching pretty well, which indicates to me that they don't need practice games.

I think it's moreso getting a feel for how the injury responds to game intensity than it is letting them see pitches against 21 year old who are four tiers of quality below them. For pitchers it might be a bit of both since they need to regain a feel for their pitches.

That turned out to be one of the briefer rehab stints that I can recall. He has been doing a lot of baseball stuff for a while, like batting, which is why they were confident in getting him on the field sooner rather than later.

Marwin... in with a whimper, out with an even bigger whimper. Ta ta!
Hoping Kyle makes a big splash.

I'm sure this is going to be first on several moves coming. This had to be done. I wish Marwin the best.

I'm surprised it was Marwin and not Santana. For all his follies at the dish, Marwin is a net positive in the field as a defensive replacement. But something needed to be done. You can't carry the likes of Marwin, Santana, Franchy, Dalbec forever.

I hope the losing isn't expediting his return. What I mean is, I hope he's here because he's ready not because they want him to be ready.

The timing of Schwarber being activated is weird.
I was hoping he'd get some games in AAA playing 1b so they could test him out there without throwing him to the wolves.
So here he is and I'm increasingly skeptical that they'll use him at 1b so as a result that means that the duo of Franchy Dalbec still gets a spot in the lineup or that either Renfroe or Verdugo or JDM hits the bench to get Schwarber in the lineup or JDM gets sent back out to the OF.
Like tonight, while it's good for JDM to be able to get a day off, the lineup has Schwarber and Dalbec in it which isn't really an upgrade to JDM and Dalbec. Nor is it ideal as when all JDM, Schwarber, Verdugo, and Renfroe with no Franchy Dalbec comprise the lineup.
Seeing how bad defensively Franchy Dalbec is, I hope Schwarber does get a legit crack at 1b. Just would have felt better if that had occurred at AAA first.
At this point the main utility bench guy should be Jairo Munoz. I won't miss Marwin's lame bat. They have to find a way to get Munoz onto the 40 man roster.

I think the timing is that when the trade happened, everyone said he was about two weeks away. Now it's been two weeks.

Its about timing....seeing live pitching is very different than batting practice. Most hitters say that it takes 15-20 at bats to start feeling comfortable. Schwarber has zero live at bats in the last six weeks. I think we need to be realistic about what we can expect from him.

I agree that Schwarber probably will not play much 1B. He bats left handed, so I see him allowing Renfroe, JD, Hernandez, Bogaerts (as Hernandez covers SS), as well as most of the other right handed hitters to get off days against RHP. Schwarber adds a much needed left handed bat, and deepens the lineup and depth.

Guy came back from a shredded knee in the same season and hit .400 in the biggest series of the decade
Did we really think this would keep him out for too much longer?
God bless us for never having to see Marwin hit again. Thanks for the glove Marwin but the bat outweighed it at this point

I’ll admit it: I thought Marwin was a steal when they signed him.

I thought he could be a useful signing. Didn’t work out. Oh well, it’s a good thing we still have some guys with positional flexibility
He would’ve been fine if he could’ve given us a 75 OPS+ with a plus glove but he unfortunately couldn’t deliver. Bat is just toast. Doesn’t get through the zone like it used to. He can’t impact the baseball

How do we feel about bringing Schwarber back next year. Is it dependent on what JD is going to do. I think he is opting in, even if NL goes DH. I don’t like the roster construction with both Schwarber and JD on it and I loathe paying guys coming off a career year like a Schwarber is, especially when there are multiple years of one level of performance before the potential outlier contract year. However JD has been tossing away at bats by the bucket load, and I enjoy Schwarber’s professions at bats. Not sure what to do with him next year.
