I'll eat crow when I need to. A month ago I was done with the Bobby D experience, and thought he needed to go down at least to AAA. Can we just tell him he's never going to earn the starters role and someone is always in the wings? He's hitting like his hair is on fire.

Dalbec has been worth 1.0 fWAR in August alone, not including that HR.

Bobby looks like the bright spot we saw last year. Success breeds confidence and confidence breeds success

Casas to 1B. Bobby to 3B. Raffy to DH.

Meanwhile, Jarren Duran is wasting everyone's time on the big club. When Renfroe comes back (fingers crossed), Duran needs to go back to Worcester and do his weird batting grip down where the games don't count. Call up Jeisson Rosario as a 5th OF/defensive replacement - after all, he's already on the 40-man.

It’s basically sacrificing range for arm and I think Raffy’s throwing problems are correctable with experience/reps. It’s all footwork related for him. Dalbec is kind of lumbering these days at 1B, I’d imagine it’s the same at 3B.

EDIT: Could he be that much worse than JDM? Or Schwarber (although Kyle is better than Julio).

LF could work for him. Plus we could have a cannon in both corners, which is fun Probably getting ahead of ourselves though, Dalbec has been known to do this at every level

Not a good series for elevated pitch counts with our starters. Pivetta needs to be more efficient

Dalbec is kind of lumbering these days at 1B, I’d imagine it’s the same at 3B. I would agree. Raffy has above average range, where he gets into trouble is when he loses focus. Dalbec hasn't exactly lit up 1B defensively, so I'm not sure I'd expect improvement by moving him to the hot corner. For all the gaffs, I can see what Cora (and the Red Sox) see in Raffy in the field, the talent is there to be an above average ML 3b. Pair him with a semi-competent defensive SS and I think it takes a ton of pressure off of him. If anything, I'd rather see Bogey @1b or LF, and I'm not discounting Bogey's offensive value, but he is annually one of the worst defensive SS in the league. Plus, Dalbec is only going to get more stiff as he matures, he's probably your DH or LF if he stays at his size. I know he has no interest but his college pitching numbers were legit, he could be a lightly used two way player and increase his value ten fold.

some tough at bats. Nick is gonna have to work. start sneaking in some more fastballs now. the Rays are looking off speed.

It's a good thing Pivetta is not a perfectionist.

Patino is the real deal. I bet his spin rate approaches Koji's without looking it up, but adds another 10 mph on top.
