Kutter Crawford seems to have added a few more MPH to his fastball unless the gun wasn't accurate. Sitting 97. Pretty sure he's making the roster

Austin Brice walked Nick Yorke, next up Mayer!
Mayer struck out on a nasty inside fastball and then Rafaela homered to right center. Maybe those three will be in the same Red Sox lineup someday.

So, is there any plan to get Story some AB’s before the games start counting next week? FWIW he was getting at-bats in the intrasquad game yesterday.

Knock off the personal attacks. Thanks. How do you block/mute posters on here? Click on their name and then if you hit the settings drop down (gear symbol), you have the option to block.

To those wondering about the velo - Pirates stadium is hooked up for Baseball Savant (I think Twins is the only other Grapefruit League stadium I've seen), so those numbers were accurate: baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?gamePk=706861

Since Crawford is on the 40, I could see him being in the majors quite a bit this season.

Didn’t Workman’s velocity fluctuate a lot in his time with the Sox? I feel like when he was killing it, he was mid-90s.

He showed some surprising velocity as a rookie in 2013, which was higher than the scouting reports in college/minors.

Kutter Crawford seems to have added a few more MPH to his fastball unless the gun wasn't accurate. Sitting 97. Pretty sure he's making the roster Kutter's velo likely up because he's been pitching mainly in relief in camp.
I think they're going to keep him stretched out as a starter in Worcester, so he'll be ready in case there are injuries in the rotation. If they bring him up to the big club as a reliever (something he's never really done) early in the season (let alone breaking camp), it would take some time for him to stretch out again if they need him to fill a gap in the rotation later. The Sox have a lot of RP depth; a lot more than they have for SP. Doesn't make a ton of sense to convert Crawford to RP just to call him up. Nice spring, kid. Go down to the farm, keep it going, and be ready.

Houck's delivery looks more compact than last year. I'm guessing that had something to do with the 3 HBP & the wild pitch. Hopefully, it won't take too long to have it be natural, his stuff is still nasty plus.

Wow, 5th HR for Devers already.

A little late to the show here and just checked the box score. Is there a reason that Story didn't play today?

Looks like the Mayer's athletic supporter is in the bag.
Wacha looks like Perez' replacement.

I was thinking about Houck's new mechanics. First, I'm pretty sure he's been working on it all winter with the help of the training facility he attended with his mentor and fellow alum Max Scherzer. If you recall, last year, he was the mirror image of Chris Sale. I should think that the new delivery, from the left hand batter's viewpoint, would have the ball coming from behind his head which, in turn, should cut down the reaction time considerably.[<---- textbook run on sentence]

What do people think of Devers’ defense this spring? His footwork has looked significantly smoother (which really was the culprit with his plethora of throwing errors). If he stays healthy I really could see a 7-8 WAR season in there if he eliminates the routine errors (we know what he can do with the bat)
