Alex Speier @alexspeier Cora said Dalbec will get work in the OF and at 2B in addition to 1B/3B. Cora also said he wants to see Duran bunt and hit more to all fields in order to make greater use of his speed.

Listen, Duran obviously wasn't a success in MLB last year, and should be open to instruction on improvement. But I hate when players get jerked around or keep tinkering. Beni going from lithe to buff and then back while losing his speed and swing in the process, Swihart's position. Just gives me some bad vibes.

I think where Duran may have gotten jerked around was by whoever tried to turn him into a power hitter. Not everyone is the same and shouldn't be put into a cookie cutter approach. I agree with Cora here. Duran has elite elite speed which isn't taken advantage of by jogging around the bases after a homerun and especially not when trotting back to the dugout after a strikeout. Players should maximize their talents and minimize their deficiencies not the other way around.

Maybe Franchy will be the Franchy we thought we were getting this year. That would be a huge positive!

He's got excellent natural power and he's strong as an ox, and he spent college being told to slap the ball on the ground and use his speed. The power came back quickly working with pro coaches but it's understandable that there are bumps along the way. I do think Worcester may have gotten him a little homer happy, but every hitter goes through stretches like that, especially a guy like Duran who has some swing-and miss. But his profile is more of a .270 guy who hits 25 homers and/or 40 doubles than of a .300+ singles hitter.

Sorry, I'm still trying to un-see that hands-apart batting grip malarkey he rocked last season. I think AC is trying to send him the message that if he wants to go north with the team he needs to take his mind off of his Polar Park power (seriously, check the splits) and focus on making contact with big-league pitching, which will allow him to get to his double-plus speed.

Wow, I didn't realize there will only be 10 ST games. I guess there's not a ton of time. Buckle up!

I think Ryan Fitzgerald is a real threat to make the roster as things currently stand

That is what you call an earned unearned run.

Agree, and re-working Duran's swing completely looked like it was a great idea until he made the majors. Probably needs to re-work it again.

I'm 50% putting Bobby D at 2nd is the dumbest thing I ever heard and 50% wow I really want to see how good he might look there, I'm intrigued.
