I was pilloried all off-season for talking about the concerning regression of Verdugo. I was called a “hater” and was told that I was too negative. But it is almost undeniable now. He’s just not what we thought he was going to be. He’s sporting a -.6 WAR this year. Is there anyone worse in MLB? Verdugo's xwOBA: 2021 .342 2022 .339 Bogaerts 2022 .341 How many xHR in the last 47 games?

Refsnyder has hit 3 bullets tonight over 100 mph. Last one was 109.8.

Wow, Devers already has at least 3.5 fWAR with 100 games left. On pace for well over 9 WAR. What's that, a $75m year??
Pay the brother.

Those of you who were on Pivetta in spring training, nice call. Looks to be Bloom's best move so far.

I object to Refsnyder running into the wall unnecessarily. But other than that, nice catch.

They aren't my numbers, they are the numbers used by MLB and the basis of all advanced analysis by every team. If he keeps hitting the same exact way, he'll eventually be hitting the same exact way he has his whole career (actually better). There's a huge difference between hitting the ball worse and getting worse results. Only one of those things a player has control over.

Story is a whiff machine this year...very strange and kind of concerning development because historically he wasn't a huge strikeout guy.

I don’t think he’s THIS bad, but he’s a far cry from the borderline all-star that I thought he was going to be. .288 OBP!! Hard to believe.

That's the explanation. What more can he do other than get luckier? He is only striking out 10.4%, career low.

I am not a big analytics guy, but don't you have to assume, given the numbers you say people are using that there is linear relationship with the past and his present. There are all manner of reasons why someone may lose power during their career. We saw that with Benintendi. I personally don't care if he hits 20 homeruns. I view him as a guy who rises in big occasions. If he can produce and play good defense, I want him on the club.

Bloop singles don't make you a better future hitter than someone who hits 115 mph line drive outs. All we have to do is wait with Verdugo because he is NOT struggling with anything other than bad luck.

Dave O'Brien is an idiot, arguing that it's not hard to make trades in June even though it almost NEVER happens.
Teams are not interested in trading anyone until much closer to the deadline unless there's massive overpays.

OMG, this discussion is hurting my ears. They don't trade now because there is no competition to drive up trade costs.

Not too mention Chaim seems like a guy who waits patiently. I mean real patiently. To make the trades that DOB is talking about requires someone like DDO paying $20K over list for a Honda Civic.

Relevant after that nice play by Xander and Bobby. Team's infield defense has been waaaaay better than the last few years....
