He's also taking chunks out of the infielders... good thing they're all catchers... I'm a fan. He's very good OF depth. Nice catch there too. Whaddaya know? A nice, unheralded depth signing by Chaim...

That's hard hit ball #4 by Refsnyder. All > 100 mph.

Those of you who were on Pivetta in spring training, nice call. Looks to be Bloom's best move so far. Still got Seabold in the wings -- yes, the same Seabold who was supposedly the "real" prize from the trade.

I give you credit for backing Verdugo, I like him as a player. But going 47 games without a homer isn't as accidental as your numbers try to indicate. If you say so. They aren't my numbers, they are the numbers used by MLB and the basis of all advanced analysis by every team. If he keeps hitting the same exact way, he'll eventually be hitting the same exact way he has his whole career (actually better). There's a huge difference between hitting the ball worse and getting worse results. Only one of those things a player has control over. I think @jerrygarcia and I are on the same page in saying that no matter how high his xSLG is, if he hasn't hit a homer in 47 games, he hasn't hit a homer in 47 games.
No, homers aren't everything, but you either hit a homer or you don't. You can't really have "expected HRs." Sure, some flyball outs would've been homers in other parks and you could have a homer robbed by an OF reaching over the fence, but those are pretty rare.
Can he hit a ball into the Monster seats? I bet he can. Can he hit a ball into the visitors' bullpen? I bet he has. Has he not hit a ball in either of those places because of bad luck? I don't get that.

First game home after west coast trip is usually a guaranteed loss. Great win!

What I get is that he does not have the skill that Didi Gregorius does in hitting 10 330 foot home runs per season. The results are bad, the process and how hard he is hitting the ball is not. All we need to do is wait.

Refsnyder was always a really good hitter coming up for the Yankees, he was just a butcher wherever they put him and it has mostly prevented him from getting an extended look at the bigs. He looks to be a much better OF than IF, that’s for sure

Sometimes they work themselves out but there may be some Roster decisions coming.

If this was mentioned I’m sorry, but I guess the Sox winning 8 on the west coast was the 1st time since August 1995.

Pivetta has been on a different planet in terms of play the last month and a half. Carrying the pitching staff. Glad he's here. Phillies fans are probably still dedicating threads in Phillies.com land to the Pivetta trade.

Wow, Devers already has at least 3.5 fWAR with 100 games left. On pace for well over 9 WAR. Great news for Devers, heck of a player. Bad news for the Sox trying to extend him.

I think they're going to flush Arroyo... He stinks, but need a backup MIF. Unless Kiké is used as? I think Arroyo's DFAed when Kique comes back. Kique is the backup MIF in case of emergency, Refsnyder is RH OF to spell JBJ/Verdugo vs. LHP. Franchy can play 1B/OF vs. RHP.
EDIT: Long-term backup 2B/SS (i.e. serious injury to Bogie/Story) is either Downs, who's already on the 40-man, or you bring up Fitzy or Yolmer. Or you stick with Kique in the IF and Franchy/Refsnyder (or bring up Duran) in the OF.

I like Arroyo but I think he needs consistent ABs for full potential. For that reason I think everything you said sir is 100% what should happen unless someone gets hurt/hot

Just to add, if Devers has this type of season, then what's to stop him from asking 350+ million this off-season? Funny to think that in retrospect, the 300 million that Devers was (presumably) asking for this past winter, could have been the hometown discount.

When considering how hot the Yankees currently are my thoughts go back to the 2001 Seattle Mariners. They won 116 games in the regular season yet did not win the World Series…. They did not even go to the World Series in 2001… Seattle has not even been to a World Series in franchise history. The Yankees may end up with being the division champs, but as long as the Red Sox are solid by playoff time that is the main objective. Then they can be set and ready for a strong playoff run…

That Oakland starting pitcher last night is a great story but my god was he not MLB caliber
After that bomb by Raffy I’m willing to give him the Arenado deal but over 10 years
