Once again DOB announces a pitcher has not allowed a hit.... only to be followed by the next batter getting a hit.

there is no way the Sox are going to trade X this year, nor should they. We have a contending team this year. Henry would never allow it. The opt out when he signed was the cost of doing business. Not trading him should not be looked as lost opportunity. It is a fallacy that you can just have major roster turnover every year and contend as you and I want. You need some stud player. reliability. If you can prove otherwise, and please don't say Tampa because they aren't our market type, I would love to hear it. I never though, that I would see Nomar leave and he left, since then, I just look at them as players doing their job, like all of us. I rather open the safe to Raffy, for the next 10 years, he may one day become the next big thing next to Big Papi. Nomar was broken when they traded him, unlike Xander so it's not comparable whatsoever. Xander is one of the best players in baseball (currently 9th in fWAR for position players). They aren't trading him because they are not stupid.

I just learned from Dave O’Brien that Nolan Arenado has 9 gold gloves. You’d think that someone would have mentioned that sooner this weekend.

Quietly JBJ has been really good for about a month now. Lately he's been having atypical JBJ at bats working the count.

I am on the Pivetta train. Guy has really put it all together. And today wasn’t nearly his best!

Pivetta sure has turned it around this year after a really rough April.

Pivetta is just a monster lately. When and if Sale returns to the rotation, A top 4 of Sale, EOVALDI, Wacha, Pivetta is as good as it gets. Assuming health and maintaining what they're doing.

I am on the Pivetta train. Guy has really put it all together. And today wasn’t nearly his best! At the time of the Workman/Hembree trade, I (and almost everyone here) thought Seabold alone made the trade a slam dunk and Pivetta was an afterthought with team control. A couple years later, he’s the best player traded during that deadline besides Ray and maybe Marte.

Refsnyder has 27 PA and a comfortable lead for 5th on the team in fWAR among position players.
Interesting stat with layers of cool, sad, and stupid.

Any chance Cora will consider auditioning Schreiber for the closer role and move Houck back into the 2 inning type setup role?

I keep waiting for him to turn into a Pumpkin, but he's just been nasty. His velocity seems to be up too.

Verdug’s acrually choked up on the bat. Haven’t seen that in a while in MLB.

I keep waiting for him to turn into a Pumpkin, but he's just been nasty. His velocity seems to be up too. He was always dominant in the minors, so I’m not so sure he will ever turn into a pumpkin. He’s over performing his peripherals, but looks like a good middle reliever adjusting for that, with setup upside. It’s hard to give career relievers chances when they get rocked to start their career like he did. That’s probably why it always feels like relievers in their upper 20s on their 2nd or 3rd team ‘come out of nowhere’.

Vaz!!!!
Serious question: is Christian Vazquez a borderline all-star this season?
