He put up a 102 OPS-plus and 1.5 WAR in only 57 games last year. He was decent when he played. The expensive guy we have this year is 1.9 WAR in 72 games - not much difference. Arroyo has a career wOBA of .296. His xwOBA this season is by far his best, at .350; his next best was .309 in 2018. He has 0.4 career fWAR in 600 PAs.
Meanwhile, according to your own numbers our "expensive guy" is on pace for a 4+ WAR season. I have a lot more faith that he can hit that mark than that Arroyo could keep up, say, a 2 WAR pace.
But Arroyo can play SS and Story can't.

Christian Vazquez seems like the kind of guy who would give a middle innings solo home run ball from the Fourth of July prime real estate on his mantle for the rest of his life

Am I a bad Sox fan (or a bad American) if I don’t like the caps? I get it that they want to sell more hats, but the normal one is already red, white and blue. They look like tattered flags and the Red Sox' sleeves make them look like candy canes. I found Waldo. He's catching for the Red Sox.

True about Story. I was surprised myself to see he's on pace for 4 WAR (B-Ref). I would have guessed a nudge lower - somewhere in the 3s. He's put up 1 WAR just on the defensive side of the ball. He's rocking a .705 OPS, which is terrible. Oh, wait. No it isn't, not in 2022 and certainly not for a MI in 2022. I was more agreeing that Arroyo could be a starter and do a credible job than I was trying to crap on Story, who is a good player - as we just saw a few minutes ago!

While I don't like bad calls, I am not generally a pro-robot ump guy. However, this guy is NOT having a good day behind the plate. Second AB in a row Bobby has had to start off 0-1 instead of 1-0.

Arroyo 108.4 and 108.5 today. part time playing is so hard. For him to play like he has part time is extremely impressive

I think we need to get our Bats checked. This many swinging bunts in 1 week is insane.

Devers needs to produce an RBI. He's had so many chances lately and hasn't come though at all

With X already hurt I never want to see Devers attempt a stolen base. What the heck was that!

Crawford brought his best stuff today. When he's locating, he's as good as anybody talent wise. Problem is he loses it a lot.

Its also a day game at home against a team from across the country who most likely spent the day yesterday with their families flying in super late or super early.

There's just so many factors. I'd like to see him pitch like this under normal circumstances. also maybe Christians sleeves are helping him locate lol

Just keep riding Crawford until he gives up a base runner. He's got it going on today.

Christian Vazquez seems like the kind of guy who would give a middle innings solo home run ball from the Fourth of July prime real estate on his mantle for the rest of his life As a guy with a World Series ring and a walkoff homer from a postseason game -- if he got that ball back -- he's got better items to display.
