Not bad on the Cape! Maybe saving some money for those top 3 prep bats however. Does have a legit chance to be moved to the rotation though apparently.

I would assume the Red Sox see the development of a 3rd (and a 2nd) pitch to make him a starter?

Wow, the Rangers took Porter. What an awesome draft for them.

Wow, the Rangers took Porter. What an awesome draft for them. Getting two first round talents when your first two picks are 106 picks apart is a huge win.

I imagine Porter will want around 4.5 mil based on where he should gave gone on talent... so they'll probably have to try and shave another $1-1.5 mil potentially off their 4-9 rd picks? Assuming 2.5 mil in saving from Kumar and a $560k slot

Assuming 2.5 mil in saving from Kumar and a $560k slot They have around $4.8 million with the 5% overage allowed. So yea probably a bunch of seniors I would bet unless they can get him for $3.5

The Rangers have done damn good. They got top notch talent despite signing 2 big free agents. Minor league depth is nice but signing impact talent is even better.

I don't know much about Porter, but I don't love it for the Rangers. They lost a ton of value at #3.
Would anyone here trade Marcelo Mayer for Kumar Rocker + Mid first round high school pitcher?

At 129, the Red Sox select Chase Meidroth, SS, U San Diego.

Ranked #258 by BA:
A 5-foot-10, 170-pound second baseman, Meidroth dealt with injuries that limited him to just six games with San Diego during the 2021 season, but he came back healthy and performed at a high level during the 2022 season. Meidroth hit .329/.440/.544 with 10 home runs, 19 doubles and far more walks (40) than strikeouts (25) this spring. He showed similar plate discipline during the Northwoods League in the summer of 2021, when he slashed .345/.471/.437 with 40 walks and just 13 strikeouts. Meidroth is a smaller hitter who doesn’t have much in the way of raw power, and instead uses a line drive swing and average bat speed to make plenty of contact and spray the ball into the gaps. Meidroth’s home run power was almost exclusively to the pull side and his exit velocities and lack of physical projection don’t suggest much more power in the future. A below-average runner who is probably best at second base, Meidroth should pop on draft models that value contact, approach and youth—he turns 21 only a few days after the draft.
