Eovaldi: solid #3 starter. Not sure how he ever ended up with the reputation of an ace. Mostly it's that he's a broad-shouldered Texan I think.

We cant wait another day. I said that back in the end of June. The only conclusion I have is that Chaim has decided this isn't our year and isn't willing to give up his longer term vision. This is the team we will have, maybe subtract a 30 prospect for a career Steve Pence type It feels at times like the long term plan is really, really long.

He got that reputation because he was their best starter in 2020 and 2021 and beat the Yankees in the Wild Card game. People sometimes think best pitcher means ace pitcher. The Sox haven't has a true ace since August 2018.

Make that 33-3 in the past 21 innings of baseball.

Plawecki is the master of calling for fastballs away when we're shifting on the pull side. Truly masterful catching. I get the complaint, but you probably don't want the hitter to be able to completely write off fastballs away whenever he sees the shift, right? Not completely, but they should be rare. If you're shifting to pull, it makes no sense to throw pitches that you are likely to hit the other way. ...aaaaaand another one to Espinal

Add: but the distinction is fair… our #1 is not necessarily an “ace,” in the Verlander mode.

It might make it harder for them to trade hom if he isnt right. At this point, if the Sox get killed this week Bloom must decide if he is serious about extending X and Devers and if he's not then he needs to trade them, along with just about everybody else.

How did none of you notice not playing JBJ in center was a mistake?

Duran and Dalbec were two seriously flawed prospects that they missed the window to get any real value back for.

So we can’t say ‘Fire Bloom’ til next year, ‘cause that’s when The Plan happens, right? Seems like a good night to check.

I thought 10-19 was gonna be the low point of the year. Maybe I was wrong. Brutal.

Does that count the runs that scored on the “grand slam”?

This is basically still Dombrowski's team that Bloom has duct taped together. Next year will be the first time there is the payroll flexibility for him to really make it his own.

Amazing how many fly balls the Sox have lost in the sky the last three weeks yet haven’t seen the other team lose one

This is the team we will have, maybe subtract a 30 prospect for a career Steve Pence type It feels at times like the long term plan is really, really long. It does, but that's kind of how Dombrowski left this team. Bloom could have been better by signing Schwarber or trading for Rizzo instead of being blinded by Dlabec's hot streaks. Can't blame him for Verdugo. Wink better be good. I was ready to move on from Benny, but the return hasn't been worth it. I get trading high on Renfroe, but so far that hasn't worked out. That .147 BA .643 OPS in AA isn't inspiring confidence, but only 75 AB. JBJ has been a disaster. His bullpen moves this year have been pretty bad outside of John Schreiber and Matt Strahm for awhile. That Barnes extension was terrible and was terrible at the time it was given. I'm somehow starting to talk myself out of the club. Love and respect the vision. I get it. This is what it was like for Friedman in LA and what I hope the Red Sox will be, but his moves to be competitive in the here and now have been awful. There's obviously good. Everything Whitlock, Wacha, Straham, Schreiber, Story, Kutter, Hill, Pivetta/Seabold, but eh. They are what they are. A team that can't win 1 series against the AL East going into August.

This team is absolutely awful. They might even be the worst team in the division right now.
