They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Kauffman is a beautiful park. I was actually there when Hosmer debuted and then when he got his first big-league knock the following day. We were living in OKC, but my dad is from the Bay Area, so we drove up Friday night planning to see the Royals and A's on Saturday. However, we made really good time and as we were passing Kauffman we realized that the Friday night game was just starting, so we just walked up to the ticket office and were seated by the end of the first inning. Couple of really good one-run games, incidentally. The Saturday contest had Brandon McCarthy throwing a complete game, but losing on a walk-off. Looking at the baseball-reference logs for those games, they were each only about 2 hours, 20 minutes long. Very snappy. I think we also went to the Negro League Museum on that trip, which is just an amazing place.
Hoping for a sweep, of course. Any word on tomorrow's starter?

I'd assume Winckowski for tomorrow's game correct?

That would make sense. I saw TBD and assumed something was up.

So they got rid of JBJ on the 40 man to make room for the 1 guy I wouldn’t have kicked him off the 40 man for, huh?

Were people saying Hosmer’s defense is bad now? How is that possible? He was really good wasn’t he?

No need for defense if the ball leaves the yard.

That was a while back, but, yeah… I guess to me first requires less athleticism than other positions but you need to be smart in situations and have good footwork… which I would think would not diminish like range etc.

Duran isn't a good enough OFer to try and get a running start on the catch and get his weight behind the throw. He knows it and was happy just to catch that one. Of course, he also has a noodle arm, so he wasn't going to throw the guy out even with the running start.
