They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Can't wait to see Kyle Wright, 2017 #5 player drafted, good to see a kid with high expectations have this kind of breakout season.

blows my mind that as good of a stretch Pivetta had that he has the same ERA as Hill.

blows my mind that as good of a stretch Pivetta had that he has the same ERA as Hill. It’s true, but I feel like Pivetta is getting a bit of a bad rap these days. He is not consistent enough to be a front-line starter, sure, but he leads the league in starts and has thrown 123.2 innings. There is something admirable, not to mention valuable, about a guy you know will go out and work like him. The guy he reminds me of is Porcello. You just mark him in for his starts, expect some innings, accept some heartburn.

Morton has been performing at an ace level for about the last 6 weeks. This is going to be a blood bath.

I don't ever expect Pivetta to throw a no-hitter, but I never anticipate he's going to go 2 innings and give up 8 runs either. He's the type of guy you think you can have a chance of winning every game with if you can score five or six runs providing you have a good bullpen...which we do not.

If any guy on the Red Sox was going to throw a no-no it would likely be Nick Pivetta although he'd probably get knocked out of the box in the 3rd inning of his next start. I also think he'd make a pretty good closer, although he's the only guy who seems capable of providing a lot of innings so they need him to start.

I posted a stat about JBJ and JD sucking equally over the last couple of hundred at bats but the person who I saw post it online was wrong, JBJ still a little worse
But it shouldn’t be that close!
DOUBLE EDIT NVM IT WAS ACCURATE AND IT STINGS
JD’s last 230 AB are .210/.279/.348/.627
JBJ got cut with his last 220 AB being .227/.275/.352/.628

How is it with guys like German, Politi, Kelly, Bazardo etc. in AAA Kaleb Ort who's almost 30 and got rocked his last stint gets another shot? Can we try someone who actually has potential? Infuriating to say the least.

Infuriating to say the least. All of those guys have had roughly similar levels of success at Worcester. Even if Ort isn't the best option, there's basically no value in improving 8 low leverage innings by a third of a run of expected ERA. So they take the option they keeps as many guys as possible in the organization.

Every series is like a new unhealthy relationship. I get my hopes up, think things will change, and then get some HBK sweet chin music seconds later.

I'm blacked out, so listening. Probably lucky that's the case.
Already trouble. Hill is probably over (the hill that is).
Starting to ponder how bad our record will end up. Thinking under .500, but how far???

I have to admit, I think Hosmer will be really valuable next year. He is sort of like Moreland, though probably a bit better hitter. He isn’t your star, but that’s fine… he is solid and lengthens the lineup.

I like not being afraid of watching our first baseman play.

Let's dream on a full healthy season of Arroyo. There is clearly a baseball player in there. Would be nice to see him for more than 70 games a year.
