They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

I believe Chargois is the opener for Ryan Yarbrough tonight.
Sidenote: Wacha and Hill have identical K:BB ratios

I believe Chargois is the opener for Ryan Yarbrough tonight. Sidenote: Wacha and Hill have identical K:BB ratios Yes, and Wacha’s ERA is half that of Hill (2.28 to 4.68). It must have everything to do with the quality of the contact….

The 2023 season has the Red Sox playing AL East teams only 52 times instead of 76. The wildcard is league wide. IMO, they should play ALC and ALW teams the same number of times as ALE!

Every game is must-lose at this point. And yet it's must see tv, like watching two trains going the same way on the same track, wait for the boom! I'm really only watching at this stage to see how creative they get in creating new, demoralizing ways to lose winnable games.

Gonna need old Xander and not utility infielder Xander Xander checked-out a while ago. He’s ready for a change of scenery.

Last night was their Game of Thrones Red Wedding moment. It'll be interesting what else they have in store for us!

Killing his value before free agency isn't very smart. Grownups should not pout. To be fair, he's been with the Red Sox since he was 16. That's almost literally half his life. Pretty crazy when put into that perspective.

Yes I'm sure Xander is really struggling right now because he's been pouting the last few months and decided to pack it in... or maybe baseball is just really freaking hard and even the best players go through struggles. And yes I understand it's been going for a month+ now and that is a long slump but I'm sorry I won't attribute it to the fact he's upset at the deadline.

I'm not saying why he's struggling on August 26, but maybe the week of the deadline just put him in a bad place mentally and even though he's over it, his mechanics are out of wack and he's struggling to find rhythm. He could be hurt, he could literally just have bad coincidental timing and struggling at the plate. Just pointing out that his problems seemed to start around the deadline and has just snowballed.

That's a very fair way to look at it and yes it's probably a number of things. Baseball is very much a mental game so if his head got messed up from the deadline it's definitely a factor but some folks it seems think he's mad from the deadline and decided to tank now which I'm absolutely certain is not the case.

If we had 5 arroyos and 4 verdugos we’d be right back in the wild card hunt
