6'1 200lbs at 19, that's a healthy kid. If they could start hitting on some older IFA pitchers like the Astros, that'd be a nice development

Red Sox must have liked what they saw. Translated from Spanish: "The victory fell to Deybi Salcedo, after throwing seven innings, with eight strikeouts, awarded a walk and allowed two hits." momentodeportivord.com/navy-blue-y-green-brillan-en-final-regional-amateur-scouting-league/

Not necessarily sox related besides wanting them the put more of the scouting budget into Uganda but 17year old Ugandan David Motoma has 4 scoreless innings with 3ks for the DSL Pirates. And even more impressively he's throwing 101mph. I think there's a lot of uncovered talent to be had for the cheap and wonder if any teams will see it as a market inefficiency. Will be extremely interesting to watch the development here. I know for a fact that there are at least a few more pitchers in Uganda under the age of 18, that are throwing 90mph; who knows what more these kids could unlock with professional coaching. Uganda baseball is criminally underfunded, so much so that they won't be playing in the World Cup tournaments that they qualified for due to lack of funds, and replacement countries were needed as a result; it's a shame because these tournaments have a plethora of pro and college scouts in attendance. Kasumba Dennis is a fantastic story and I'm rooting for him, but much of the online support for the kid and baseball in the country seems very performative in nature and designed to get likes and clicks, especially when there is not even a whisper about anything else hindering development of baseball in Uganda; hell, Uganda wasn't even mentioned in the press release regarding the replacement countries being selected. Uganda merely appearing at one of these World Cup tournaments would have resulted in a minimum of 100 points, which would have boosted their world ranking, which in turn would have led to more opportunities to play in more international competitions (WBC Qualifiers for example take these rankings into account). I'm done ranting, but I just thought it should be known how bad of a ripple effect their lack of funding has.

Baseball Korea just reported that the Red Sox have made an offer to Chan-Sol Lee. He is an 18 years old pitcher and currently playing for Seoul Highschool. http://instagram.com/p/CvFAl8hhtp6 According to a source, he will get $300,000. But there is a KBO amateur draft in September and he is considered as a 1st round pick, so I'm not 100% sure of his signing. Fastball velo up to 95~96. Bad control.

Looks like a nice, easy motion. If he can already throw 95, I wouldn't be surprised if he could flirt with triple digits with a professional development program.

He tops out 95.7 but usually sits at 90-92. His stuff is pretty electric but control and command need work. He has walked 20 batters in 20 innings in HS league.

What is the US translation to a Korean high school league. If he was in this past US baseball draft, would he have been drafted?

$300k is the second biggest bonus for an international pitcher since Chaim got here, behind Paez.

Chan-sol Lee ranked #7 in this list of prospects for the upcoming KBO draft. His stats look considerably worse than those ranked ahead of him which should largely be a reflection of the BB per inning rate noted by KoreaSoxFan above. The stuff by all accounts seems pretty impressive but let's keep in mind there is a pretty low floor for a guy who struggles to throw consistent strikes. I'm not trying to diss overall....I'm a big fan of this signing given the situation and $ left in our pool.
