It could just be shadowing by the camera, but Tyler Broadway looks like he has a arse sweat problem. It's arse sweatin' weather down there...

Doogie is such a good interview. His personality really shines, he doesn't just say canned responses..

It still must be really cool for the College kids to play against the pros…even if they get their asses kicked.

It was always a massive deal on campus. One of the guys got a hit off Schilling, and it was a huge deal. I also remember them having to disband the football team too. That was sad.

I know it was mostly minor leaguers (and with apologies to NU alums) but I would've felt better after a 16-2 game.

They used to play BC but that stopped a few years ago. Unclear why. I'm sure some Google sleuthing will lead to the answer

General comment. Not having NESN or WEEI, I tend to lump all the talking heads, some journalists (Thomase for example) and some ex-players together as just a group of fast talkers looking for listeners who pretty much don't care what they say and pretty much don't know what they are talking about and pretty much make a mountain out of any mole hill. Mazz for example. That said, Lou Merloni gets a thumbs up.

I also liked Merloni. He has become fluent in the talk radio game (not a compliment) but completely turned that off for the game broadcast.

BIG shoutout to Sox Prospects and Chris and the Gang (by name) on the MLB channel during the Sox-Atlanta game just now. Nice going, guys!

Bobby "Mr. Grapefruit" Dalbec with a double over the RF's head in his first AB. According to Joe and Will, he acknowledged that he needs to swing earlier in counts and stop falling behind.
Top of the 2nd inning and already two automatic strikes on Sox batters for not being ready in the box on time.

Top of the 2nd inning and already two automatic strikes on Sox batters for not being ready in the box on time. It's obvious that Dalbec has also modified his swing. He was stand-up and now there's a crouch, probably to let him work the outside part of the plate more easily.

Even just on twitter (a well-known hellscape in terms of commentary), the quality of his output has been noticeably more eloquent in recent weeks, just gearing up for the new gig. Of course, now he's getting called a homer by his talk radio followers for not constantly bashing the team. Legit saw someone call him a sellout for posting a pic of Bleis and commenting that he was impressive in drills.

Maybe time will take care of that. Maybe not.

Tapia has value for this team. I also hope the Red Sox try and find a way to get Dalbec on the team.

Tapia has value for this team. I also hope the Red Sox try and find a way to get Dalbec on the team. Is there anyway to shoehorn him onto this roster and get him enough playing time? I know it's just two AB's in the first spring training game, so not suggesting anything about meaning here. Just thinking hypothetically how it could work. Basically, anyone like Tapia (or Goodrum or Valdez or Chang or ...) would need to displace one of two position players: Dalbec or Duran. Of course, if we're just going by today's game, then it's Duran...
EDIT: Tapia or Goodrum would need to displace someone on the 40-man. Going by today, that guy would be Ort. It's as easy as that...

There is also no guarantee that Rob Ryfsnyder will be the same player this season.

There is also no guarantee that Rob Ryfsnyder will be the same player this season. Refsnyder is on a big-league deal, so I think he's going to have a much longer leash than, say, Duran. I think that it would take a long regular season slump by Ref before they considered displacing him with someone like Tapia or Allen.
EDIT: Re: moving Duran, I think showcasing his versatility at 2B would be pretty important, despite how reluctant some are to give him reps at the keystone corner.
