Anyone else think they should eliminate the pitch clock after 6-7 innings have been played?
Keep the late inning traditional and intense moments alive and avoid late inning stupid stuff like yesterday

Keep the late inning traditional and intense moments alive and avoid late inning stupid stuff like yesterday I'm an old salt who hates the pitch clock, the man on second (even though I will concede it does add excitement) and pretty much anything that is suggested by Manfred, but like interleague play, I'll get used to it and it won't annoy me as much for I remember watching Clay Bucholz pitch and it was the only time you'd wish for a streaker or a fan on the field because he took so g**damn long between pitches..

Mata and Walter were fun watches today. Hopefully both can stay healthy because the stuff won’t be a problem.

Fun game to watch so far. My favorite player, Verdugo, has a couple good ABs and the up and coming pitchers did not disappoint.

Walter looked great - he’s my favorite pitcher in the system (other than Bello). I didn’t remember his delivery being so violent/max-effort though. Feels like there’s more reliever risk there than I was aware of

Winchowski’s slider was absolute crap last year, so he’s a potential breakout candidate. An average slider just isn’t that hard to learn, so even adding that changes his profile as a guy who can’t strike out anyone to someone who gets people off of his sinker. Not saying he’s the same pitcher, but reminds of how awful Zack Britton was early in his career as a starter. Probably going to be triple-A depth, but he’ll be interesting to watch to see if he can get any kind of breaking pitch working

Did anyone else run here to see if Jacob Webb was on the 40 man?

Nice type of cap, on NESN, by both Lou Merloni & Mike Monaco, initially, specifically to Ian, regarding his scouting report on L Guerrero, then, to Soxprospects.com directly, for their efforts tracking the Red Sox minor league system, here in the 8th inning, as they provided some background on Guerrero, his coming on for Webb.

Did anyone else run here to see if Jacob Webb was on the 40 man? No, but I did pull up the site when Guerrero came in, just as Mike Monaco acknowledged getting the scoop from Ian. Random note: Webb is a huge guy. I got trapped on the field in Greenville after a game because he had friends/family come to see him at the gate I had to get out through and there was no graceful way to get around him.

Also nice shout out by NESN to Ian Cundall and Soxprospects.
Ian has a T5 voice and my favorite part of getting sick is my ability to sound more like him.

Never could've seen that one coming... They better clean that up before the regular season. The clock should be a timer inside the ump's pocket (maybe the crew chief's pocket, rather than necessarily the home plate ump's) that vibrates when there's a violation so that only the ump is aware and he has the discretion to call or not call violations based on the situation. That way you could avoid the inevitable messes like that one. This is a terrible idea. Can you imagine the amount of “the game is fixed!!” discussion if the umpire explicitly got to decide whether the situation warranted a play clock violation? Sorry, basing rules changes on how conspiracy theorists might react to them is not something I think is needed. Are you concerned that umpires will finally be able to secretly cheat and take full advantage? They already have discretion over plenty of things, e.g. when to give pitchers warnings for throwing at batters, balks, whether or not a batter swung. Oh, and balls and strikes. I'm probably forgetting a dozen other examples right now. NFL and NBA referees call most penalties and fouls at their discretion and it doesn't seem to be hurting those sports' popularity....
