Is this a real quite? Who the hell is Nestor Cortes anyway? I mean, he isn't wrong. The rivalry right now feels dead. The Red Sox biggest rival right now is a winning season. The Sox biggest rivalry right now is the first baseman's glove. 2/4 of the infield couldn't hit it with gps.

We feel the same way. The MFYs of old died when they moved into their new, soulless stadium. That fan base is a shell of itself now. Zero intimidation going into that dump of a borough. They also haven’t won an AL pennant since 2009, so they can keep slapping themselves to the word “mystique”, their 50 retired jerseys, and some more dorky John Sterling home run calls. This should be nominated for short story Pulitzer prize, if there is such a thing. i love this !

Will admit, one of my favorite memories of recent past was Aaron Judge's way too soon attempt to troll the Sox by playing NY-NY only to have it backfire spectacularly. Talk about don't poke the bear moments. It was delicious.

Talk about don't poke the bear moments. It was delicious. Loved the Sox singing New York, New York after beating the MFYs and Dodgers that year. That Sox team was a team not to mess with, unlike the current version. That 2018 team had sone serious swagger and a mean streak in the way they eviscerated their opponents that year. I miss 2018 so much!

Weird thing to say when they got taken out by us the playoffs before last The Sox haven't been a factor in 4 of the past 5 years and I doubt the Yankees are worried about finishing behind the Red Sox. The Red Sox are the least intimidating team in the division and haven't been a power in the division the past 5 years with 2021 being a wonderful exception.
That's an obvious thing. It's not like the Red Sox walk into town with the swagger they had part of last decade and throughout much of the aughts. And with the Yankees not winning or even making the Series since 09 and the sterile new ballpark, devoid of any personality whatsoever, even the mystique and aura from the Bronx Bombers isnt quite the same, so what you're left with is two teams, one that's always winning 90 plus games and going to the playoffs but getting frustrated once there versus a team that hardly even makes the playoffs anymore and is about to reside in the division basement for the 3rd time in 4 seasons. At least the last time the Sox did that they had a Championship. This time all they can say is they got half way to the Series, but at least they beat the Yankees, which is a refrain that's now more common in the post season among other teams, too, lol. How does this year end? I must have forgotten.

Chris Sale put on the 60-day IL. If the Sox don't show up to this series in a meaningful way, I really can't see this ship righting itself to a 85-90 win season... I make this point every year on here, so I'll make it this year too. It's foolish to count on guys coming back from injuries to lift the team. Invariably other guys get hurt. It isn't foolish if you've had an unexpectedly high amount of injuries.

If you feel they're in the thick of things and in good shape ready to compete then feel free to disagree.

The Red Sox should order Sale to go on a diet consisting of milkshakes. If he can bulk up to 260 lbs in 60 days he should be good to go. People always talk about what great shape he's in apparently because he's so thin. To me he has always looked sickly.

So it’s been a rough couple of weeks. My approach tonight is that I’m just hoping for a win and a fun game to watch. I’m not gonna worry about who isn’t hitting and who can’t get batters out.

The Yankees lineup without Judge looks putrid. The MFY probably only need to score two, the way it has been going.

Those last two changeups were absolutely disgusting Whitlock can really pitch when he's healthy. I look forward to what he can give us the rest of his time here. I see him as a big part of the next Red Sox run.

The bad route is somewhat understandable given that it’s Stanton batting and he took a huge swing. Often that is a ball he’d need to go back on. Cruddy route for sure. But I’m thinking that’s why.
