In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). So - playoff chances after tonight's games - Sox at 17%, MFY down to 5%, Seattle down to 29%.

Adam Duval last 100 PAs: .250/.310/.534 June was the only month he has had a wRC+ below 100, and now his first and second half lines are nearly equal at 122 vs 121.

When Houck is activated (hopefully) Llovera will head to Woo or elect otherwise. That leaves us a pitching staff with all weak links removed. Young, promising, versatile and mostly effective. If the bats are heating up, the rest of the season may be really something!

Need a sweep. Seattle is playing Kansas City. Well, Kansas City certainly won't beat them again, he says hoping to be proven wrong again.

Would be nice to see Devers and Yoshida kick it into a higher gear again. Feels like the supporting cast has been doing their job recently. A sweep is a must.

The Nats won three of their last four series, inclusing two sweeps of the Reds and the A's. Hoping we can win 2/3 here.

Red Sox still struggled to put runs on the board this past series (that middle game against Manning was just embarrassing). But compared to the Royals series, they at least showed some signs of life in the other two games.
The outs were getting noticeably "louder," and they didn't win through plain dumb luck like they did in two games against the Royals.
That Toronto series being an exception, if there was ever a time for a top-5 or 6 offense to get collectively quiet, it was in these first couple weeks of August. Because they are going to need to HIT if they want to go toe-to-toe with the Astros/Dodgers over 10 games.. Hoping this Nationals series is where they really start to click again.

The reality is, that when the game starts tonight, the Washington Nationals are simply scrub team. Don't give them opportunities to be anything more (i.e. not get a hit until the 5th inning like they did off Manning)...

Great baserunning by the Royals in the 9th, that was exciting!! I can not believe the Royals won in the bottom of the 9th after loosing a 5-0 lead. Hopefully the Mariners cool off after their hot streak. Their rotation is dominant, I wouldn’t say spect any extended losing streaks. I was surprised they didn’t add any bats at the deadline, that’s all they are missing

Pitchers these days are at max effort so breakdowns are more of a factor

And I'd imagine if they gave a boost for the recent form of teams we've played the schedule would look even tougher. I've had the same impression as you.

Why is it that almost every scrub team the Sox play this year is scorching hot right before their series with Boston starts St. Louis was 3-7 in their previous 10 before sweeping the Sox. Reds were 5-5 before going 2-1 vs. the Sox. Rockies were 3-7 before going 2-1 vs. the Sox. Angels were 5-5 before sweeping the Sox in May. Guardians were 5-5 before going 2-1 vs Sox in June. White Sox were 3-7 before going 2-1 vs. Sox in June (they went 3-7 in their next 10 games). Oakland was 2-8 before going 2-1 vs. Sox in July. (they went 3-7 in their next 10 games). Pirates came into Fenway 1-2 in their first series of the season (against the then-lowly Reds) before sweeping the Sox in April. Any other teams you consider scrubs? These were all self-inflicted wounds. We'll see at the end of the season if they were fatal to making the playoffs.

Really like the fully alternating left-handed/right-handed lineup. Yoshida needs a day. Swing has gotten back to looking like it was earlier in the year, lot of choppers/ground balls of late.
Time to get after it.
