Fun feature of the SiriusXM app: before going to bed in an hour or so, I can turn on the Yankees broadcast, work it back to 9th inning, and hear those beautiful words: "Ballgame over, Braves win!"
Some like a little Enya to help with their pleasant dreams; I prefer a touch of dejected John Sterling.
*Weird. I know.

Gutsy win hanging in there tough after the meltdown inning. What a pickup Pablo has been.
Not sure if anyone is watching Pivetta’s post game interview but he is really hard on himself and cares about winning… I definitely want him back next year.

Bullpen outside of Llovera is nasty now. He’s only keeping Houck’s spot warm

Not often you get 6 baserunners and end up only 2 batters over the minimum. On a positive spin, Severino lowered his ERA tonight from 8.06 to 7.98.Nope that`s a negative.

Red Sox are an MLB-best 50-3 when leading after 6 innings.

Schreiber's last 5 games: 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K, while looking much sharper.

Red Sox are an MLB-best 50-3 when leading after 6 innings. That is no accident. Adding Martin and Jansen after Winkowski and Schrieber last year was brilliant.

And if these guys can start jumping on some pitchers earlier in games, putting up a crooked number in the first inning or two, I think they could get on a real roll. Particularly with Paxton/Sale/Bello on the mound 3 of every 5 games (or so). It's been a month long stretch where it feels like almost every game, they can't scrape anything across until the 4th-5th inning. Not saying that correlates with pitching performance in the aggregate, but it would definitely be nice to see what Bello and Paxton look like with a few 3-4 run leads early on in games. Particularly after the two of them (and Crawford) have had to carry this staff on their backs for a couple months.

Good Paxton should be able to go 7 innings tonight on 5 days rest. It sure would be good if he could have those be low stress innings for a change. Early runs would sure be a breath of fresh air. The 3 last night were good, but it could have been more.

Wink has really saved this pen. Fantastic job with Schrieber and Martin being hurt this could have turned pretty ugly. With Schrieber back maybe they can lower Winkowski's workload a bit so as not to burn him out.

The 3 last night were good, but it could have been more. Haha I love the positivity, but I wouldn't make any assumptions about getting 7 out of Paxton tonight. The Nats hit left-handed pitching very well, and are actually hitting and playing quite well in general over the past month. All the more reason the Sox hitters have to go into the game with the exact same approach against Gore as they did last night against Gray. Work at bats, drive that pitch count up, and hopefully pounce this time when they get the chances. And avoid the continued trend of running themselves out of innings (a la Reese McGuire)...

Tonight’s game is interesting to say the least: On one hand, the Nationals lineup hits LH pitching very well (.772 OPS, 8th in MLB) and on the other hand, Paxton has been pitching like a RHP ( 4.62 xFIP vs LHH & 3.32 xFIP vs RHH).

Will telling it like it is. Is there even a bad argument for not using automated balls and strikes? Particularly in a sport which is using "Zombie runners" ? Any attempt at "tradition" as a rational is gone right there. Maybe because it would eliminate pitch framing? Do people who watch poker believe cheating at cards should be allowed because it takes skill?
