This team has “we quit” vibes.

Trade Paxton? I was on the “why did we sign Paxton” train last year when we were just over the cap. And folks said “oh wait until this year”! Sure take a victory lap even though he was very good for stretch where he was expected to be. He's pretty much paid for his contract off of WAR. Which ya WAR is whatever now. But see, this is the reason I can't take the whole WAR/$ stuff seriously. The Red Sox have a lot of lot of players who some would say are providing great value based on their 2023 WAR/$. But despite all the WAR/$ bargains we have the team stinks. It's great that Raffy, Dugo, Paxton, Turner, Casas, Duran and others are producing "value," but at a point you need studs who give you 6 WAR or more. Our two highest are Bello and Dugo at 3.5 (B-Ref) and neither is a great bet to make it to 4, especially Bello, who I expect to be shut down after another two starts or so. An obvious part of the problem, of course, is that we're carrying several guys with big contracts who aren't providing much value. Sale, Yoshida and Story are big offenders there.

Yeah… pitching is the problem (as perhaps baseball’s worst pitcher slices and dices our lineup).
Paxton could be pitching a shutout and we *still* would not be winning.

still think Cora is not at fault? poor base running, poor fundamentals in all aspects, very poor hitting approach,Fatse,Pitchers find the middle of the zone all the time, No command with any pitchers at all. You figure it out. this game is a shit show and it all shows up. If Cora doesn't go, you at least have to cycle in some new hitting and pitching coaches

I think there are a few things going on that are quite visible - Cora sending Bloom a message, the players sending Cora - and perhaps Bloom - a message. Depending on what happens in the remaining games, it could be pretty messy. But no matter what, this is true embarrassment going on here. It must be pretty miserable for the players.

IP the last 5 games Nick Pivetta: 5 IP, 4.1, 5.0, 0.2 2 Tanner Houck 5ip, 4ip, Sale: 4.2, 4.1, 5.0, 4.2 James Paxton 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 4.0, 4.1 Kutter Crawford: 5.0, 3.1, 4.2 6.0, 5.0
Bello is literally the only one who has had 1 start of less than 5 IP in their last 5 games...
And you wonder why this BP is pretty much dead.....

This is like watching a hostage video of 28 guys furiously blinking out a message in morse code that they need a new manager.

I guess you are one of the guys that thought this was a 90 win team. I believe I predicted 75 or 78, cant remember. 78 starting to look iffy.

For the record: Walter was drafted by DD So none of this counts until they work DD’s draft picks all the way through the system. Bridge to 2033.

I hope Darnell McDonald is on the NESN post game. None of their talking heads show open disgust like Darnell! Well, Jim Rice does a pretty good job too.

Not trading James Paxton at the deadline was Bloom's biggest blunder as a GM (besides the Betts trade, but I can't put that only on Bloom since John Henry is the f'ign worst)

Cora showed his attitude to the ownership by throwing away a winnable game in Monday's debacle to get Bloom fired, I really hope these players could show theirs to get both Cora and Bloom fired before the end of the season!

So you are telling me that when they signed him they figured ~8 good starts was what they were aiming for out of his 2 years of pay? And those 8 starts were worth having worse picks for X and Eovaldi? haha I mean at some point people start going after the GM right? I feel like I am in an insane asylum. BC was getting run out of town by fans (and he won one). I've watched our GM make the same exact mistake at the deadline 2 years in a row, yet people expected different result. This is a poorly constructed team, that is one Bloom. I'm just perplexed by the all the excuses put forward for him

Dont forget baserunning, questionable managerial decisions and highly debatable GM decisions.

Without getting specific, it seems that the Red Sox overvalue/assess their players, and don't risk manage very well - sure, lots of good players coming off injury during the season, but rarely do players coming back hit the ground running and play well - so we get Houck, Sale, Whitlock, Schreiber, Storey, for quite awhile Duvall - and overvaluing Kiké, Verdugo, Refsnyder to name a few. Looking at the skill levels on so many other teams we often look like we are playing in slow motion - where are our flame throwing pen arms? Did they just think standing largely pat the last two deadlines would work?
I know it takes time, and hopefully the last few years is just a temporary dip - but talent evaluation and decision making seems a bit off.

I was a big cora supporter, but the whole year of bad fundamentals from top to bottom is just too much to stomach. Kiké put at shortstop caused many losses and Cora just would not stop putting him there. Too many lineup changes for matchups is just unfathomable to me. Hitting is learning how to read pitches and pitch recognition was an important part of learning. I see them fooled by fastballs right down the middle and it is maddening. Enough of my venting. it does no good except to get it off my chest.

Not feeling good about the Story contract. Had that 6 week stretch last year wrapped around a whole lot of nothing.

Looking to next year all the help I see from the minors is Rafaela. Most players a ways a way if they pan out. A big if.

Amazing - if the score stays the same, the season run differential is only a +16.
