Listening to the new Podcast Ep. #301 and wanted to ask what mods, admin and members think of the suggestion there should be a new thread for the discussion of each new Podcast? Lots of interesting things come up which are worth further comment. For example one of the guys remarked a "big move" up when a prospect is in the 20-60 range doesn't mean all that much as the grouping become tighter and tighter the further away from the highest rankings. I'd assume the same does not apply to a big move down? Having reached a point means there's more data and scouting on a prospect so a precipitous drop would usually be a very bad sign?
In any case what I'm asking is what do people think of the idea of each new Podcast having it's own thread?

If people want to start threads they can, but I think it'd be better that if someone wants to discuss a point made on the podcast, they start a thread on that topic or post in an existing thread that point relates to. Like this discussion would be terrific for the existing SoxProspects Rankings thread.

One of you was about to make a point about how Yoeilin Cespedes could vault to the top 5/top prospect, and then the Mayer/Anthony/Teel who would be up first conversation took over, and then it was never circled back. Is there more to elaborate on that?

Like this discussion would be terrific for the existing SoxProspects Rankings thread. The only thing with that is so many of the threads become bogged down with stuff that would really be better suited to the sub-forum. Of course people could send e-mail directed to the Pod but often times I have a whole bunch of questions which are a result of listening. Such as; The system is generally regarded as one of the better in MLB but weak on pitching prospects. So why is it the Sox have to expose so many pitchers other teams are seen as salivating over or at least at risk of being picked? Shouldn't the Sox be the team willing to clear out these marginal pitchers in a system weak on pitching so they can poach pitching from other teams?

Is it OK to post questions for future podcasts here instead of emailing them? Chris and Ian both agreed you would have liked to have seen the Sox protect Drohan (who Chris predicted would be lost if not protected). I was wondering how you compared him to the loss of Ward last year, which player you valued more. Also, any thoughts on Ward's year, if he still has a chance to develop into a 4 or 5 in the majors or more likely a swing man, bullpen piece.

I like the idea of this post and think people in the forum should use it more to interact with podcast content.
At ~7:45 into this episode - paraphrased "we know nothing will happen until after the new year".
Only mentioned in fun. lol

First time on the podcast for Chris Clegg but I'd swear I know his voice and particular style of phrasing from somewhere before?

I'm surprised this hasn't come up jet, this being a prospect website and all, so I'll ask: where would Grissom fit in the rankings? Would he be a top100 prospect in baseball, if he was still eligible?

The slow free agency and trade market (for the Red Sox) has made Soxprospect podcast market slow too…. 0 for January, but in their defense, what would you talk about Saw this and wanted to address it. Yes, this has been the issue in large part. The other significant problem is that I am absolutely buried at my day job right now. This isn't what any of us do as our primary career and sometimes the career gig needs to take precedence over the side gig. We've discussed the issue amongst ourselves and we're trying to find ways to address this. I apologize for the absence which is mostly on me. We'll get it fired back up soon.

There is not much to talk about anyway. Nothing at all since Dec 30th. Maybe the International signings and who they released is about all. We don't know about the Intl players with very little info on most of them.

At some point during the year, what are the chances any of Breslow, Bailey, or Kyle Boddy would participate in a podcast?

Your most recent podcast (#304) was excellent on so many levels! Thank you!
One comment regarding young player signings, in addition to other training young players receive, financial education would be helpful. As a FINRA licensed Registered Investment Advisor and consultant for corporations and state government, I hope there is some financial education on saving, investing, and spending within their means. For many (even a majority) the signing bonus may be far larger than what the player makes their entire career as a professional. Many players do not even make it to AA. The pay for DSL, Florida complex, A-, and A+ is not that great (nor can it be…it not like they have TV contracts).
Upon graduating college my dad had me start a 401k, IRA, and bought me subscriptions to a half dozen financial periodicals. The savings and investments I made those first ten years were, so beneficial as I am now 63.
I hope the young Red Sox players can hang on to a chunk of their bonuses for education, homes, and families in their future! Our US high schools and even colleges get an F- preparing our young people for life financially!

Ian noted the Dodgers for taking care of former draft pick Andrew Toles by continuing to sign him each year for health insurance purposes, which I thought was a great story.

FWIW, I enjoyed the hour long episode (305) and would hope you consider more in that range. Just generally podcasts can ramble - we have no editors, let's go 2 hours no matter what the topic is! This one had basically two topics - a little college stuff and then a deep dive into the top 6 pitchers in the system.
Just for me, that tighter focus is a plus.

"A new pod is up... A NEW POD IS UP!" Kind of ridiculous it took so long to be honest, it’s not like they had anything better to do..

I like it when the podcast description says things like "Players discussed include Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Yoeilin Cespedes, Richard Fitts, Franklin Arias, Blake Wehunt and more!"
Both makes me want to listen, and also helps when they say a guy's name once and then talk about him for five minutes, saying "he" and "his" and never saying his name again.

FYI, this is pretty much an issue for any podcast. As a listener I have the same frustration sometimes, but note that it's very hard to get into the habit of saying a guy's name over and over again.

The Cespedes talk on the podcast is really really exciting. Sounds like he’ll be moving up in the rankings and has elite bat speed.
