Rafaela and O'Neil in vs a tough righty with Abreu on the bench is a choice you're allowed to make (First time bashing Cora all year, feels nice!) Opening day lineups are generally not indicative of platoon matchups.

Not gonna lie, I’m excited to start another baseball season even if I’m not terribly optimistic about the team’s chances. I love this baseball team and that’s something that is a fundamental part of who I am. I’m looking forward to sharing another season with this wonderful bunch of Sox fans.

I just saw that Tyler O’Neill has jacked a long ball on opening day four years in a row. It’s the longest streak since 1900. I need this streak to continue!

I believe this is unironically the reason he is playing today.
Too bad we optioned David Hamilton

Duran LF Devers 3B Story SS Casas 1B O'Neill RF Yoshida DH Rafaela CF Valdez 2B Wong C I don't love Story in the 3 hole but this lineup can be really good if things break right. 3rd is usually where you put your 5th best hitter if you're trying to go full analytics, and keeping RHH in the 3 and 5 holes allows the Sox to get maximum R/L balance. Makes some sense to me.

I know ST stats don't necessarily count, especially individually, but as a staff the Sox only allowed 130 runs, Seattle, for all their talent allowed thirty more. We have a thin margin for error pitching wise, but if they can prevent runs on a similar clip this offense will score runs. It's a rare bit of optimism for me this spring that I am sure will come back to bite me, and will be quoted back to me if it all goes to the crapper. Alas, its game 1, and so here's to starting the season off 1-0. It can not be overstated that the defense will be lightyears better than last year (especially in the outfield), which will be a huge help to the pitchers (and their stats).

seeking knowledge. Does anyone get the T-Mobile free MLB.TV ?
if so, does that mean you can only watch on your phone, and you can't access the game on Firestick ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

O'Neill's cool chuckersault on the single was entertaining. Not hard to see how the guy gets hurt....

God I can't wait for robots He helped Bello in the first. At least he is consistent. Before the k-zone, that’s how a zone was judged.

Wow this ump blows this is crazy for so early in the game Watched Stros/MFY earlier w/ a terrible HP ump. Maybe random zones were a point of emphasis this off-season for the umps' union?

5 guys in the lineup tonight had greater than 75th percentile Statcast sprint speed last year. O'Neill getting the party started.
