There's some added depth I have been harping on so not going to complain. Hope this guy works out somewhat.

He was horrendous this spring and had a 6.6 K/9 in Japan last year. I would expect nothing from him.

I assume he needs to be on the MLB roster? So Weissert goes to AAA?

He opted out of his minor league deal, does this mean we're adding him to the 26? Also not sure if we have future years of control or not. Japanese players usually get that negotiated out but he didn't even get a major league deal so maybe he couldn't.
Also I called it!: Naoyuki Uwasama didn't make the Rays and has an opt out. He does have a very nice minor league deal so he might not leave. Pretty good chance we nab him if he does though IMO.

Chances are this guy isn't going to stick around all that long in the MLB based off a quick peak of his #s in Japan but at the same time who knows, I'd rather give this guy a shot than Chase Anderson. We pretty much know Anderson is not an MLB caliber guy.

Driveline connection in play?
Video is from August, the Rays signed him in January. So the RedSox weren't that interested. Now the Driveline boys are on board and the RedSox pick him up

If Wink is really hurt, then put him on the IL and see what he can do.

All in all, you're just another noodle on the wall.

We started the offseason hoping for Yamamoto and ended it with Uwasawa. Sigh.

No Yamamoto hopes for me & thus no sighs for me. Clever post though.

Is he going to be on the 40 man?
Edit: Looks like he will be on the 40 man according to the 2024 Projected Roster Page

He had an opt out with Tampa if he wasn't in the majors, he exercised that, and then was traded before he was granted free agency and then we didn't add him either? I don't understand how this one went down

I don't understand how this one went down If he did exercise his assignment clause, it means he needed to be offered to every team. However, if nobody wanted to add him, it's possible the Red Sox took the opportunity to send the Rays cash for him after.

This trade is now official and he's been assigned to Worcester.

How does this work? I assume that the offer to every team must be made at the same time. Does a certain amount of time have to elapse after the offer is made before a deal can be struck?
