They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Two left fielders. A bold strategy.

Not that they should *never* have Rafaela at SS, but I don't think I'd choose to do it on the day when they have their biggest flyball pitcher on the mound.

Glad to see Devers back in the lineup, at least I hope I am in the sense that hopefully his shoulder if close to 100 percent.

Cleveland is 4th to last in GB% (Sox are 3rd) Maybe this is more about just giving Hamilton the day off after a rough day at the plate.

Do we have a reason to think that's not a SSS thing?

With the Red Sox featuring a lineup of only two righties (O'Neill, Ceddy), the Guardians only have one lefty (the well-known Tim Herrin). After a double-header on Saturday and extra innings yesterday, curious who will be available for them on an 11 am game in Boston.... www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/guardians

I actually thought Hamilton was looking pretty good at short the best couple days (though offensively not so much). Anyways glad they’re willing to play Rafaela there but it’s not my preferred permanent solution.

For those who were complaining that the 3-0 against Oakland was insignificant, the Athletes are 7-9 and have given up only 9 HRs on the year, which is tied for the fewest in the MLB. They have a respectable 3.85 ERA also. Offense has been a problem for them, but with their pitching they are far from the worst team in the league for which my vote goes to the White Sox. With a -51 run differential in 17 games, they could be epically bad.
Why post this here…because the 9-7 record has shown its flaws (defense and consistency on offense), but overall the Red Sox are better than most thought, and IMO the Red Sox are good enough to compete with teams like Cleveland. It is nice that they had a doubleheader Saturday and an extra inning game on Sunday, so hopefully Cleveland’s bullpen has been used hard the last two days.

Duran needs to play every day, and Tyler O'Neill also needs to play close to every day because he's freaking awesome - and so if Wilyer is playing against 90% of starting pitchers, that kinda makes Ceddanne the de facto shortshop in this scenario?
Hopefully this is stable enough - with a peppering of Hamilton here and there - to last them until the summer when they can get a (preferably right-handed?) defensive shortshop just so you have the option to put Rafaela in CF when you need to and not feel antsy about the infield.

Do we have a reason to think that's not a SSS thing? He's throwing the 4-seamer quite a bit less, so it seems to follow. I don't have batted ball profiles by pitch type handy, though, so correlation/causation etc.

Clase and Gaddis were both used yesterday, but had three days off to precede it, and would both seem to be available. The other four are on one day rest preceded by two days rest. They seem to be in fairly good shape - immediately before/after a scheduled day off isn’t an awful time for a rainout.

My guess is the computers wanted Hamilton at short but Cora has now gotten his way

I think this outfield is still pretty good defensively without Ceddanne

Love Abreu is RF with Rafaela at SS with story out. Let’s Rafaela work on versatility and give us a better SS and we get Abreu in the lineup with Duran and oneill
Also give us a meaningful look at what we have in Abreu

The NESN camerawork has had a really, really bad week at home. A bunch of fly balls out of view, a couple fly outs they weren’t even able to cut to at all until the ball was in the glove, home run reactions for 3-5 pop outs, and a missed home run.
