This keeps everyone fresh. I like it. Iglesias, Drew and Middlebrooks all can benefit from this. Even Pedey. There should be plenty of PT since they all are good players.

"he may play 3-4 times a week. Happy to " ------------ I laughed at this. Not going to happen. I imagine agents are on the phone to Ben. If they start platooning Drew I doubt it goes over well at all.
I'll miss not seeing Iggy tonight but I want power at the corners and 2012 WMB form is important.

From ESPN this afternoon: "While Drew brings superior defensive skills, the offensive skills of Iglesias are just too big to ignore." I guess this is what happens when you hit .448. They forget about your fielding. That's shockingly bad, even for ESPN. I can't believe that was said. It's so pathetic, it actually made me laugh.

It would really help if Stephen Drew actually was willing/able to play a position other than SS. If Iglesias is going to play 2-4 times per week he should be used at the position he excels at.

I really don't get this. It's probable that Drew at SS and Iglesias at 3B gives you better defense than Drew at 3B and Iglesias at SS, even though Iglesias is better than Drew at SS defense.

I suppose without seeing Drew at 3B its hard to compare which combination is better, but I guess part of being a veteran means you're not the one who has to move . There is also some selfishness on my part, watching Iglesias at SS is really just a lot of fun.

And here I've been thinking "I wonder how Iggy would do in RF..."

If they are seriously considering giving serious PT to a punch and judy hitter like Iglesias at 3B, the Red Sox need to make a trade for a 3B.
Aramis Ramirez is hitting great last I looked and is on a bad team with a $20M boat for next year. I would be shocked if the Brewers weren't looking to move him.

They're giving AB's to Iglesias because it's worth it to have his glove in the lineup. They don't expect him to hit .400. If he hits .250 with some walks and an occasional XBH he's well worth a spot in the lineup

With the DFA of Ciriaco, this thread has run its course. Locked.
