Jim Callis @jimcallisba #RedSox go Trey Ball, frontline LHP. Can't argue with any #mlbdraft picks yet. Someone will be happy they get Meadows a little later.

Is Ball the youngest HS pitcher in this draft class?

Trey Ball, as we all expected.
"They could go a lot of ways... they're a club that's sitting well right now." -Harold, 10 seconds before the pick on who he thought we'd take. So we're good.

I bet they do something really crazy; Ball Wow. I had this feeling as Bud walked to the podium and hit send right before it came out.

I will say at least it's pitching. Another lefty into the system. I preferred Shipley slightly. Oh well it could have been worse.

If it pisses people on here off, I am ecstatic about it.
Don't know anything about him but 6'6" lefty as an 18 year old? Awesome.

Maybe we cut a deal with him. I would try to trade for a comp pick and take a guy who falls like Austin Wilson or Manaea.

Not what I was hoping for but I like it. How does he compare to Henry Owens?

Me too. He as very limited mileage on his arm, very athletic and great make up.

Jason Parks ?@professorparks 14s Love the Red Sox taking Trey Ball. It's a high risk/high reward situation. Long levers; plus athlete; lots to work with on both sides.
Sean McAdam ?@sean_McAdam 50s Ball is a big lefty, with Andrew Miller-type build - 6-6, 180 pounds.
Mike Andrews ?@mikeandrewssp 28s Ball is very projectable. Already throws his FB in the 91-94 mph range with a clean motion. Also has an above-average CB and a developing CH

I love it, Trey Ball is a great pick. This could be Boston's Kershaw (7th pick in 2006). Pitching, pitching and more pitching!

Just a gut feeling but Eddie Bane played a major role in this pick... can't be mad at that

I almost feel sorry for Harold Reynolds. He obviously has no clue about any of these guys and knows it. He is just trying to not look like an idiot and is failing miserably

Can't argue with accumulating arms I guess but I was looking forward to following a blue chip offense prospect through the Sox system. Maybe the Sox decided they see some value on offense to be had past the first round.
