Don't look now but Shane Victorino is making JD Drew look like Cal Ripken. The Flyin' Hawaiian has only played in 48 games this year and is ailing again. While he has provided more offense when healthy than I ever expected, this guy is looking so brittle right now that he'll be lucky to play 100 games this year. If he has "tweaked" his back/groin/hamstrings again then I really think they need to DL him and bring up Bradley or whomever until Victorino can establish playing more than a 2 days on-1 day off schedule - or worse, doing what they did in April and sitting him without the DL for 7 games while he "heals."
The last thing the Sox need in the next couple weeks is a short bench and substandard OF defense just so they can wait around 7 days to see if Shane can avoid the DL. Again.
ADDED: In his age equivalent seasons to VIctorino's 3-year contract with the Sox (i.e. age 32-34), Drew averaged 128 games and 513 plate appearances per season.

The little injuries are starting to pile up. Victorino will miss games, Nava's thumb is acting up, Ross is out indefinitely due to concussion issues, and Morales is out for at least another fifteen days. It'd sure be nice if Napoli went on one of his hot streaks and carried the offense for a few weeks.

Should really be able to beat the hell out of this team. I mean, c'mon.

"Should" never = "will" in MLB. And really, why go in there short-handed?

@nickcafardo Looks like Will middlebrooks may be heading down to Pawtucket. First baseman Snyder may be coming up.

Does he have a clue that this would require a 40 man roster move?

Ellsbury CF Victorino RF Pedroia 2B Ortiz DH Napoli 1B Nava LF Saltalamacchia C Drew SS Iglesias 3B RHP Ryan Dempster (4-8, 4.23). Nice to see the full lineup in there despite injury concerns. Hopefully Peds can break out of his mini-slump (.200 over his last 12 games) and Napoli can bring back some of that thump that sparked us early on. Despite maintaining a decent enough OBP, he's slugging .328 this entire month with only 2 XBH's, including the grand slam in New York on June 1st. @nickcafardo Looks like Will middlebrooks may be heading down to Pawtucket. First baseman Snyder may be coming up. ?, wonder if the Red Sox just aquired him? J/K, but seriously why would Cafardo call him a 1b? Does he have any clue who the Red Sox minor leaguers are? He's always been a first baseman, who can play the other corners in a pinch. His defense seems solid at 1B, but he's certainly a below average 3B who you wouldn't want there other than as a strict backup. His OF defense may be marginally better than Gomes/Carp, at best, as he has minimal experience there and from the video I've seen, his routes have been quite circular to say the least.

Mortenson isn't eligible to be activated until tomorrow. They probably didn't want to bring someone up for a day and send him back down the following day. Lose access to call-up for 10 days.

@alexspeier Allen Webster will start again on Friday. Sox wanted some continuity rather than constantly shuffling guys up and down
I will hold back on my comments regarding "continuity."
Also heard Beato is back for Morales.
Beato stuck in traffic, apparently.

Not Sure where this goes, but it looks like Allen Webster is going to be the ad hoc starter until Buchholz returns. Farrell has announced him as Friday's starter vs. Toronto.
As good as Aceves has been pitching I think they need to see if Webster can shake off the nerves and contribute. This kid could be something special and he seems to be learning by every game in the majors.
Looks like Lavarnway is getting his wish

Looks like Butler's getting his too - offensive numbers exploding since Lavarnway got called up and he's gotten to play every day.

That ball clearly changed direction once it bounced up. There's no way for it to change direction in the air without hitting something. It's a moot point now, the baseball gods have spoken.

So is it still too early to say that Iggy has figured things out? Love watching him play. I'll ask the question from the other end: How the heck long can this guy keep it going? .432 is .432, I don't care if he is doing it with smoke and mirrors. I am not going to compare Iglesias's offensive talents with Hanley Ramirez, but could he possibly have been letting his apparent disappointment with not being in the majors distract him in the same way that Hanley might have been distracted in the last stages of his minor league career, before the Marlins brought him up and he caught fire right away?
