Iglesias has AT LEAST .140 to .150 points of regression in his BABIP. That would make him a .285 ish hitter. That is his extreme ceiling in my opinion and even that is likely 20 or so points high.

I don't care if he is doing it with smoke and mirrors. --------------------------------------------------------------
As long as he doesn't return to the bad habits I don't see why it can't last a while ... to the AS break maybe.
His double just shot the gap and fell just short of the wall like it was aimed there. It's nice to be good and lucky.
* Hope WMB gets it straightened out and comes back strong in August.

I'm not really seeing many infield hits or lucky bloops lately for Iglesias. He's spraying line drives the other way and making hard contact. I like what I'm seeing, his approach has certainly improved significantly.

Igelesias' plate discipline and contact #'s are almost at Pedey's level this year. It appears that only his BAPIP #'s are a fluke and his walk % is likely to actually go up. His K% rate is close to elite. Fangraphs

Another line drive off the wall for Iggy.

This should have been the first game that Bailey pitched in.

FWIW Iglesias would have to go 0 for his next 51 in order for his average to dip below .300. He obviously won't sustain a .434 AVG but guess what SSS freaks, he isn't going to come "crashing down to earth". Maybe just enjoy what he is doing right now as opposed to thinking pessimistically and expecting him to begin a slump every day. (chavo this isn't directed at you, but is a general post towards some).

This should have been the first game that Bailey pitched in. Nah, they'll wait until they're in a tie game ...... I dunno about this Iglesias guy. He's a stud on offense, but I don't know if we can put up with that iffy glove ......

how the hell do the yankees keep winning? their lineup is so terrible. Even their pitching isn't that great.

how the hell do the yankees keep winning? their lineup is so terrible. Even their pitching isn't that great. They win because they have had good starting pitching that keeps them in games, outstanding relief pitching that routinely closes games out when they are ahead and a line-up made for Yankee Stadium. This year it's keep it close and someone will pop one. A wild card is Pineda's return. Even with their low average line-up, they can still win this thing. They have twice as many saves as Boston.

Iggy's season has definitely been an Anomaly. Earlier I was not disappointed when he was sent down, because even though the results were there the approach was not. I knew that he could not hit bloop singles and GB hits forever and we all knew his BABIP would bring him back down to earth. His BABIP has come down a tad and will definitely come down more but the approach is there now. His GB% has dropped by almost 20 basis points and his LD% has more than doubled...AND he's seeing taking more pitches.
I always had confidence, or maybe it was just hope, that Iggy would eventually figure it all out. But I didn't think Iglesias would figure it out this quick.....I really hope he keeps it up.

how the hell do the yankees keep winning? It's 'cause the other teams can't stop staring at those damn pinstripes. (just ask me why it doesn't work for the cubs or white sox)

how the hell do the yankees keep winning? their lineup is so terrible. Even their pitching isn't that great. Simple: A slush fund in a Cayman Islands bank is used to launder cash payments to Umpires on the condition that the Yankees get all close calls and their pitchers are afforded wider strike zones than the opposition. Same fund used to pass GMs money to give them players in sweethart deals at the trade deadline and during the off-season. I thought everyone knew this.

Or to look at it in a more comprehensive way, if the Sox are serious, Iglesias is basically a regular for the rest of the season, gets 300 more AB, and regresses to a .250 average the rest of the way, he'd end up hitting .300, right on the nose. That's the "house money" he's built up thus far -- it's probably more likely than not that he'll finish the season over .300. But now we'll find out. No more coddling, in and out of the lineup, protecting him from potential overexposure. Let's see what he does with a full-time gig. One thing is pretty obvious: The offensive Iglesias we knew through last season no longer exists.

Comes back to play 3b and Iggy moves back to his real position.

I understand that Victorino tripped and fell into the wall, but should the padding on those walls really be compromised with bolts or thumb tacks or whatever it is that holds up those advertisements out there?
In general, the Sox have been pretty classy in regturning Fenway to it's 1920's advertising heyday (not that this a good thing, but it pays the bills I guess). But now that a more strict salary ceiling has been set, couldn't the team afford to make a few concessions for player safety, if not for our eyes? As long as I'm complaining about architecture, I'd rather the video-boards take a page out of Johnny Ive's new IOS 7 graphics and remove the skeumorphic green monster backgrounds, but that's just my two cents.

This offense is little or less without the Big Papi.

Lackey is really back. Consistently at 93 hitting 94. The slider is just a backbreaker. Motion is consistent, repeating his delivery with each throw. This is a really good pitcher.

I can't wait till Rivera screws and retires. They got lucky with that one. As you can see if you have a lock down closer you build down from there in the bullpen.
Plus don't forget they play in a stupid "ban-box". 1 billion dollar stadium what a joke every left handed hitter has power in that stadium.

What is it with Ellsbury and climbing the wall for balls that don't come within ten feet of him? Also, kind of amazed that Todd Helton is still alive, much less hitting doubles in major league ballgames...
