Daniel McGrath on the bump for the GCL Sox. It will be interesting to see what happens with Dioscar Romero and others. I don't expect Trey Ball to get game action until July at some point.

Assuming Randy Perez throws tomorrow on regular rest, GCL Sox will still need a new starter for Friday, or else Ethington will have to go on short rest. My guess is that'll be either Romero or Gunkel, neither of whom has pitched yet.

Holy Daniel McGrath. It's a SSS, in the GCL nonetheless, but have to love the initial numbers regardless. Over his first 9 innings he has allowed only 3 hits, k'd 13 and most impressive for me, walked 0. I like to see that type of domination from any level prospect at anytime for any sample size. Now I will be really excited if we get a scouting report that justifies the domination, but until then he is definitely a player of interest if only for his background.
EDIT: And just like jinxing a no-hitter he walked his first batter immediately after I posted (sorry Daniel, my bad). Now 10 innings 4 hits 1 bb 14k and 1 run allowed.

I'd assume that Mike McCarthy will start the resumed game for Portland. 5 days rest and he's that guy anyway.

When I went to the GCL game along with Sarasoxer on Monday, I had never looked at Daniel McGrath's bio. I was really impressed with his size and body. He is very solid. This kid may be REALLY interesting to follow this summer. We may have something here.
In a secondary note, the GCL games are no longer held in Ed Smith Stadium (Sarasota). They are at the complex, but on a side field. I really enjoyed sitting in comfort in that beautiful stadium. How dare they!! Games at JetBlue are still held on the big field. How cheap Baltimore. Of course I can't really complain, the contests are always free.

Is it just that they are LHP in a league where no one has seen one before? Not that Kukuk is someone to sneeze at. He's pitched OK this year as well. He's also... well, only a few months older per season than McGrath.

It looks like Hamilton is coming back to Pawtucket from his GCL rehab soon, and Sutton has played more 1B than anywhere else this season, but I wonder if we'll soon see Middlebrooks get some opportunities at first, with Bogaerts shifting to third here and there. They certainly have the flexibility with Holt (who hopefully will play again soon) and Diaz having the 2B-3B-SS flexibility, Sutton and possibly Middlebrooks 1B-3B, and Bogaerts SS-3B. Sutton isn't exactly a guy preventing you from trying promising things with others for, and Hamilton primarily DH's, so I see no reason not to get creative and take advantage of getting WMB and Xander some experience at 1B and 3B, respectively.

Marrero with 5 multi-hit games out of his last 6. 12/25 over that stretch (through 6th inning of today's game) but only 2 XBH's (2 - doubles).

That is how the GCL Tiger games are 90% of the times are also (practice complex) and the side bonus, is that you get a much superior, as well as closer look at the players themselves where you can see everything that goes on much closer, hear everything as well. I much, much prefer it this way myself.

What about Teddy when does he clear his physical so he could get on the mound for GCL or Lowell or maybe aggressively putting him in Greenville? Side note if Sheff happen to sign this year would be a redshirt because he isn't cleared from injury?

Side note if Sheff happen to sign this year would be a redshirt because he isn't cleared from injury? I believe Stank is with Lowell already, per his Twitter (he was pictured in a Lowell uniform). When Matt Maloney and Chris Carpenter finish their rehab assignments I would expect Stank to be added (along with possibly Mike Adams if/when he signs). Regarding Sheffield, he had Tommy John or similar surgery so he will be sidelined until early next season. I would expect him to have a strict innings limit next year. Of course, no one knows if he will sign at this point.

Our Dominican team is looking good.
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Jose Almonte (W, 2-0) 5.0 4 2 0 1 6 1 1.00
I like the pitching especially, but maybe we need to be paying attention to just turned 17 year old 3rd baseman Victor Acosta. 2 BOMBS today and 5 RBIs!!

Mookie locked in right now: 4-4 with a 2B, BB, and a SB for good measure.

I wonder if they might try playing WMB a few games in LF or RF also? He has the arm for RF for sure.

Mookie Betts is good, really good. Is this the Mookie Betts in Low A? Don't over-rate Aball stats and certainly not Low A. Any numbers put up below AA while nice don't tell us much if anything.

I wouldn't mess with moving WMB around now. He's got to get his approach and pitch selection down first. Leave him at the position he is most comfortable until he shows he's out of his hitting doldrums.
