Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. The Sox need to win this first one ... the other two don't look that great on the matchups.
Bartolo Colon annoys me.

Win one, steal one - preferably off the mellon-headed "magic stem cell" experiment.

Anyone have any thoughts on who will start on Sunday?
right now it appears that Workman is the most logical choice. Wright threw a bunch of innings yesterday, I know he's a knuckleball guy, but he throws pretty hard to bring him back on short rest. Britton is on the 40-man and is on schedule, but he just got up to Pawtucket, it'd be a lot of movement for him in too short of a period.
I'd hold Rubby out of todays game in AAA and start him Sunday, but it's obvious the FO doesn't like that idea.
That leaves Workman

Since we've seen all of the 28 yr old Wakefield comparisions with Stephen Wright. How bout this one? His first game with the Sox he pitches 7 innings at California Angels and wins 12-1 on a Thursday. One run is his. He pitches 2 days later at Oakland and beats them 1-0. 7 1/3 2 hit ball. Why not?? Workman's available in long relief if Wright doesn't have it.

Strange pairing of statistics I noticed today: Lackey has the highest GB% of his career according to this Grantland article yet also has the second highest HR/9 (1.3 per) of his career. Strange combo.

His facial hair just get more and more epic every year. He's agreed to take on Gomes' role as the biblical patriarch of the Oakland clan. We do need to all chip in and send him a robe and sash... To go with the WWE championship belt, of course.

CD Bucknor behind the plate. The strike zone will merely be a rumor that changes dfrom pitch to pitch.

Sox pick up Matt Thornton for Brandon Jacobs. Sweet move. Brandon had to go on the 40 and was Rule-5 eligible.
