This team has “we quit” vibes.

When faced with (arguably) their two biggest opportunity series of the season, this Sox team was thoroughly dominated by both Toronto and Houston… in Fenway. That’s all I need to know. Not competitive.

Fenway sounds dead as a doornail After last night’s white flag, how couldn’t it? This team has been so damn uninspiring all season… and they wear softball jerseys all the time like they’re some 90s expansion franchise. Unrecognizable.

Ever since that rocky start in Wrigley, Paxton has seemed very shaky.

They are so, so, SOOOO lame. Yeah. Not sure if you’ve ever heard the Stanton home run call on their broadcast but it might be the corniest thing in the sport. Yep. I live in NYS, so I hear a lot of their radio team. They make me cringe.

It's pretty well-established that relievers tend to be less effective when you use them two days in a row. Starters can only go 5 or 6 and single inning relievers can't go back to back. Time has definitely passed me by. Yep. It drives me bat shit and makes me feel like some kind of ancient relic (I’m not 40 yet). Pivetta was throwing pretty well, sitting at 74 pitches, didn’t face the top of the order first time through… and comes out?

Let's hang an 8th straight loss on them tomorrow. MFY loss No. 8 would make this guy happy. This makes me want to drink 100 beers.

Oh, to have these games mean so much again... Times - and teams - have certainly changed! Yep. The rivalry is essentially toothless now. It’s very sad. Nothing feels personal anymore. Even with just our Sox, between the ads on the jerseys, cartoonish city edition uniforms, softball alternate jerseys, and general corporate feel around the stadium area, I don’t even recognize the Olde Towne Team a lot of the time.

10-1 wearing yellow and blue this year. Keep putting them on! Those uniforms are an abomination! Haha.

Mediocrity or not, getting steamrolled at home in the most important series of the season (to date) tells me all I need to know about the makeup of this team. Deeply discouraging.

More crummy defense leading to runs. Adorable.

We have bad defensive players at most positions. This is the one aspect of Bloom’s roster building that has consistently frustrated me. We can break down why batting average isn’t valued as much and why BABIP and exit velocities imply certain future outcomes, but don’t seem to properly value guys who can catch it and throw it at a reasonably big league level.

You know the Mariners comeback was brewing when DOB started marveling about how the Sox owned the series the last 2 years lol He drives me NUTS with his “spit in the baseball gods’ faces” comments. Obviously, it means nothing, but it still makes me crazy.

Blame the manager all you want, at the end of the day, players gotta make plays, and pitchers gotta make pitches. This team is is a perfect example of why it’s so important, especially with the new shift rules, to prioritize up-the-middle defense (and defense in general, really). Nothing frustrates me more than lapses on that side of the ball. Only baserunning blunders even approach making me go similarly nuclear.

He also didn't mention that Rafaela is faster than Kiermaier. Do you have data to back that up? Kiermaier is still in the 91st percentile in sprint speed as a 33-year-old. Pretty tough bar to clear. But he’s white, brah! He can’t be fast!

They put on pajamas for their flight out west and the bats went to sleep. Pretty annoying scheduling from MLB, too. We had that inexplicable stand-alone trip to Oakland, came back east, and quickly came back to the Bay Area and Seattle.

I hate to even think about it because this team can look dominating at times. But...can look completely clueless at other times. I don't have confidence that this team could go far into the postseason even if they can make it. This team looks like they can be so good and then just fall flat. They really needed this series to make a statement that they should be believed in and dropped 2 of 3 playing sloppy baseball. That's what has made this team so hard to embrace. Whether it's been the defense, the baserunning, or situational hitting, the baseball gets way too sloppy.

Oh what they’re doing now seems great I was more talking about renovations to Fenway itself I feel like people may be a little more particular about. I don’t see many people opposing a greater level of attraction to the surrounding area (outside of some maybe justified gentrification concerns). A bit late for some of those gentrification concerns. Also sad the old Baseball Tavern is gone but I heard it’s coming back at least, even if it won’t be the same. PLEASE bring back the Baseball Tavern! I need some old timey salty dirt dog bars around the stadium—ones with cigarette smoke-stained pictures of Yaz, Pudge, etc.

Also a brutal defender (I’ll still take him!) Devers is a very good hitter Soto is a magnificent hitter Can we agree on this? I know batting average is scoffed at in some circles (not mine), but if a career .283 hitter (.262 this season, and I’m well aware of his excellent OBP numbers) is magnificent, then what is the next level up? I’m fine with locking up our own guy to the type of deal Devers received. We know his medicals, his personality, and how he handles Boston. With Soto, who knows? I nearly punch the table any time I see him play, though. Haha. That little batter’s box shimmy schtick of his makes me see red!!!! Let someone else pay him the $400+ million.
