Respectfully, the idea of trading Devers seems like an exceptionally bad idea and very short sighted. He has a chance to be one of the premier players of his generation. And conversely, while I have hope for Beni, if the offer was good, I’d take it. The left side of the infield is what they should be building off of. Agree, but I don’t think we have to worry about teams blowing up Bloom’s phone trying to acquire a LF whose offense is trending down since 2018.

Well they are only down one, which sorta seems like a victory in a weird way. The HR Judge hit seems like it should count for 2 runs.

Tough to hit a ball much harder than Judge just did.

Makes me grumpy as a baseball fan. As a regular human, get well soon Eduardo.

Big big opportunity here. Need more than 1 run. Immediate jinx. Totally blaming you.

Who doesn’t love that first inning for Weber. Just one little single to LF. Would be just lovely to put a crooked number up on the board early!

I can't wait for game two, the Godley is for real game. We are due for some luck with starting pitching. I'd love to see Brewer get some starts. Yet not 8/2 against the Yankees, let's not set him up for failure. Let's stay positive. Godley is back to 2017 levels and ERod is a few weeks away. Which would change everything. Then get back Taylor and Hernandez... While all that is highly unlikely, we can hope. Could not agree more! We are all realistic, but why not enjoy the best rivalry in baseball tonight. If it’s a tough season (and it may be) let’s all remember that everyone on this message board is our brother or sister in being a pretty avid fan of the Red Sox and is part of an even smaller community of those with a particular interest in following young players through the minors.

How big does the saddle have to be for Vazquez to put an entire 30 man roster on his back? Dude is carrying the team.

For two innings, Martin Perez is looking like the number 3/4 he was hired to be. If anyone replies to this with the words “small sample size” I might barf. Let me enjoy some decent pitching. Sometimes you turn into a pumpkin.

It is amazing to think that Vasquez was sort of the also-ran prospect for a while at catcher. His development really exploded. It is awesome. Spot on. I was one of the people who was really irritated with how the team handled Swihart (which I still think was poorly done) but at this point Vazquez makes that whole discussion almost irrelevant.

3 pitches middle-middle for Chavis... foul, foul, whiff (well, guess it was a tip, but the point still stands). I’m no swing mechanics expert, but I cannot understand how they haven’t coached him up to shorten the swing. Maybe at least when he’s got two strikes. It seems sooo obvious.

Holy crap, Vazquez’ contract is looking like the Sox are stealing from him.

Cy Perez? There ya go Martin! Give us more of that. Lots more. A little infield dribbler for a hit doesn’t hurt a bit. Nice inning.

Half serious question, are people forgetting we also got Jeter Downs in the trade? He’s the number two prospect in the system. The return for what has turned out to be 60 games of Mookie is fantastic.

Cespedes looks like he might be finished. This aged well. I actually chuckled. Way to call yourself out.
