Quick poll on best song on the Last Waltz? I'll go Caravan. Best part is Levon explaining the midnight ramble to Scorsese. I used Wolcott's Rabbit's Foot Ministrels as a fantasy team name for a while. It's hard for me not to say The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. I do love Ophelia and Coyote. And if you're in the Boston area--looks like this is at the Coolidge on September 7 (and I have my ticket already).

Worcester finally says "no mas" to Mother Nature. They're already playing a doubleheader tomorrow so it remains to be seen when they'll make up today's game.

Thoroughly off topic aside from the thread title and some of the conversation, but as a decade-long veteran of video store management I've listened to the Last Waltz an extraordinary number of times--it was my go-to "it's a crazy busy weekend night and folks will wait more patiently if they have something awesome to listen to" choice. That said I'd never heard/seen this version of "The Weight" until yesterday and it's an immediate favorite.

Another Rafaela HR (he goes back-to-back with David Hamilton). Worcester is a total ‘banbox’…. are kidding there have been 10 HRs hit in the game today and it is only in the 7th inning. Great, Rafaela has hit 9 HRs, but how many convert to the MLB parks with MLB pitching. I hope Worcester puts up something to deflect the wind some there are not so many HRs (certainly not because I do not like HRs, but the inflated ERA and problem cause with the pitchers confidence….like Drohan should feel great because he ‘only’ gave up 3 of the 10 HRs allowed today…?… They're playing in Syracuse tonight.

Does anyone know how the game schedule will work for the WooSox tomorrow? We had considered going to the game today, and would possibly also go tomorrow, but I'm not sure the logistics of it. The WooSox press release says they'll complete the suspended game today beginning at noon, followed by the regularly scheduled game. Will it be truly continuous, like bottom of the 9th of G1 occurs, then the WooSox immediately go out for the top of the first (it seems like this can't be right). There's so much of the makeup game to get through, just trying to get a sense for how late the 2nd game will start. Normally they would finish the suspended game, there would be a 35-40 minute break, then they play the second game. And usually the second game is seven innings, as though it were a doubleheader; once they start a nine-inning game they have to play nine, even on the makeup day, but the second game is usually seven. That said they did not say in the release about the suspended game that Game 2 would be seven innings. Confirmation from the WooSox:

WooSox game finally suspended until noontime tomorrow due to the threat of thunderstorms. Tomorrow supposed to be glorious, sunny and less humid.

I'm pretty sure Rafaela reads this stuff, he just recently asked if AAA pitching is better than AA pitching in his twitter account. I think you're referring to his brother. I think players' families read this stuff far more often than players themselves do.

Not for nothing but the Worcester announcers are actually better than DOB by a country mile. Worcester has a really extraordinary collection of talented broadcasters--enough that they have a separate awesome radio broadcast alongside the TV team--and, not incidentally, a terrific group of photo and video folks in Tayla Bolduc, Ashley Green and Eddie Monigan. Truly unreal quality for a AAA team.

So Joe Jones starts and pitches and inning, now Kluber is on. Game notes say Dobbins out of the bullpen tonight, Gambrell tomorrow, Wikelman Sunday.

I'm partial to the lot at the Iris Network at 189 Park Ave--their $10 parking fees for Sea Dogs games make up a significant portion of their yearly budget. Wherever you choose, be aware that summer weekend + major league rehabber usually = a bit of a zoo. Best to get there early.

Stephen Scott deserves some love. His home run tonight gives him a .308 batting average and .943 OPS in his first 21 games in AAA. He’s walked more than he’s struck out since his promotion (rocking a 10% K rate in Worcester). The man just hits. Defense is another story, but he could be a decent bat first backup catcher in the big leagues. WooSox gave the lead back after Scott's 3-run home run in the eighth. So he hit another 3-run shot in the ninth.

Sogard is quietly having a very nice season. Not sure if tweets still embed for everyone but his turn on this WooSox triple play tonight is something else. Link here if you need to click through.

I'm visiting Hadlock Field for the first time today. Any food recommendations? I have a lot of Portland food recommendations, but unfortunately none at Hadlock. (I'm still annoyed about a "fried fish sandwich" I got years ago that turned out to be a fish stick in a hot dog bun.) But everything else about the park is great!

Jordan just added a double. I think he's thinking Portland is nicer in high summer than Greenville.

Rafaela just took a pitch off the wrist/back of the left hand. Staying in the game.
Devlin Granberg announced his retirement at the game.

Kavadas has a 41.9% K rate over his last 45 games. 26 hits to 80 strikeouts. His K rate has climbed every month. I don't know that I would promote him. I confess I did not realize that he also leads the Eastern League in walks (63 in 67 games).

We're totally going to go from "Don't rush Rafaela" to "Get Rafaela to the big leagues ASAP so he won't think he can hit homers all the time."

Does anyone know why Meidroth has been out the past 5 games? He was HBP twice in the late game June 30, when he last played, and the second one looked like it really hurt--I wondered for a bit if he might come out of the game. My guess is that they don't want an IL assignment that might overlap with Mayer and Yorke heading to the Futures Game in case he's ready to come back today or tomorrow.

Per the Greenville broadcast, a) Anthony had strep throat, and b) Miguel Ugueto broke his ankle in multiple places in Asheville and may be done for the year. Bonaci now has his former #3.

The online box says Coffey for Portland but that would be on just 3 days' rest, so it seems unlikely. It's probably Liu coming off the dev list or Sharp coming off the IL. Kwiatkowski, per the just-released game notes.
