I would assume they'd try to trade a Hellickson based package for Upton. I dont trust his peripherals though; they're terrible to an extent where i doubt any team can make a big investment in him.

What peripherals disturb you? I look at a kid who just turned 25 years old in August, still learning, who has also been an all star, and a ML regular for four years with remarkable offensive numbers for his age.

Hellickson's FIP, xFIP, and SIERA are all horrible. Either he is getting extremely lucky or is amazing at producing weak contact. The latter is a possibility because of his great changeup, but its tough to know for sure.

When James Shields name was mentioned in rumors about a Mike Morse trade I thought that would eliminate the Rays from the Upton discussions. But the reporters on MLB Network keep bringing up his name in a possible Phoenix scenario.

His tERA has been in the mid 4s for the last two years. Tampa's defense is just really good. And he has been very lucky.

With the D-Backs now in possesion of their shortstop "solution" with Didi, what would be their interest in trading with Boston? They apparently were not enamoured by Iglesias, though I believe he will turn out to be the better prospect.
They would certainly be interested in Middlebrooks, but we have no one ready made at 3B in the system. Bogaerts is still green, and Cecchini even greener.

Nick Cafardo in today's Globe quoted Kevin Towers as a "probably not" for a Red Sox trade for Upton. He opined (Cafardo) that a Bogaerts and/or Bradley could be to asking price.
Don't blame Cherington for resisting, but I wonder if a pitching prospect, Brentz and a ML reliever might interest Phoenix.

The Red Sox really do not have a top flight pitching prospect that a Justin Upton deal can be built around.

Barnes was above Hultzen on Sickels' last list, and I would be shocked if Seattle had Walker in their agreed deal for Upton.

Apparently Seattle did have Walker as the pitching prospect slated to go in the deal for Upton. Too bad they wouldn't want to rent Ellsbury for Walker.

I hope people realize that Andrus' ceiling isnt much higher than where he's at now. He has absolutely no power, is only going to get slower, and will only get worse defensively. You realize Andrus just turned 24. His decline should not come for some time.

I just didn't want people to expect him to have some 8 WAR season in his peak or anything like that. In regards to Upton, I think it's safe to say that he is in no way worth his price.

I'm surprised the Braves gave up so little. Prado has Been on the trading block almost as long as Upton. Delgado looks like a decent prospect with one year of ML experience. The other three are in "A" leagues.
As much as I wanted him to fill a glaring need, he most likely would have invoked his no-trade clause for Boston anyway.

Man I had to be the biggest trade for Upton critic there was but in my 20-20 retrospect imagine him in our outfield this year.
