I think Zobrist was out, and also that Napoli should have gone for the DP on the Jennings bunt.

Very solid performance by Workman overall. Dempster and Lester should be worried.

Very solid performance by Workman overall. Dempster and Lester should be worried. Imagine that. Command your fastball and change speeds. Paging Jon Lester. There's a lot of acrimony on here towards the Rays. I love how they develop their pitchers. Command the fastball and work on a change up. Love the way Maddon utilizes defensive charts and info out there. They don't overpay for relievers. Shop selectively for everyday players. What's not to like? Maybe, more Friedman than Maddon. But, whatever they are doing everybody should look at how they are doing it.

Moore at 82 pitches through 7, Sox bats gotta do a better job than that.

So, do the Red Sox actually have any sort of plan if Workman's pitch count gets too high too fast? Britton has pitched the last two days, could he handle multiple innings today? They should have recalled Wright rather than De La Torre when they put Bailey on the DL, if you ask me. They've said before that they feel that De La Torre is someone they feel can give them some length if necessary. See, for example, his 3.1 IP on June 11. In 31 appearances this year, he has pitched into a third inning at least 8 times.

Nice to see the Red Sox bend over for the Rays yet again. It's like clockwork.

Why would you get Breslow up when you're down 2-0 in the 9th. Bases loaded and one out. Facing a guy you can't hit and Rodney. Wasting your 2nd or 3rd best reliever in a game you are not going to win.

De La Torre was pretty good in the 7th and 8th, but he lost it pretty quickly here.

Three runs against him, when he's off, is VERY doable.

Which is why they'll bring out Moore for the 9th.

This is exactly the type of pitching they'll see in the playoffs. I know we need a pen arm, and I would love a guy like James Shields (who would save the pen as well with his typically long starts) but this team needs a high OBP bat to extend this line-up and increase offensive opportunities. Leafing the league in runs is great, but if you can't hit guys like this, you won't get anywhere in the post season. True, a lot of BBIP bad luck tonight. But not a lot of working the count or making this guy sweat. Tough game all around.

Tip of the hat to Moore. That's how an ace pitches. They have David Price too. They are going to run and hide from us. Cobb gets drilled in the head and he's starting his rehab before Buchholz who fell down and can't get up.

What a nice gem by Moore. How do they find these guys and develop them. Doing a fine job.
Also the Rays are the team to beat and will most probably win the division.

I'm trying to find comfort in being straight up owned by the better pitcher on a given night. However, I lose it all envisioning this for the next 5 years before the Ray's can't afford to meet his Ace like salary demands.

The good news is that Workman seems like he'll do just fine until Buchholz comes back. Gave us a quality start and a chance to win. Out of all 4 games, this was by far our worst match up.
Also, Owens apparently had a dominant performance tonight. You win some you lose some. Just be glad we didn't unload the farm for Garza today.

I know Moore deserves some credit here but in a 2-0 game, there was no game plan, with that type of speed top of the line-up.
I noticed the annoucers Joe C has been mentioning Iggy hasn't been swinging on the 1st pitch any more basically lost his aggressiveness.
I always wonder if X-man was up here what his game plan would be against Moore. Just a thought. The team definitely looked spent after last night. Maybe would of been nice to have a early start. Who knows. Just being a Red Sox fan.
