This is a fucking joke. John Farrell should be ashamed. For starting Lavarnway? Personally I think Butler should be here as the backup.

Who saw this one? Besides...I dunno...everyone?
Forget getting rid of steroids - if baseball was committed to making the game better, it would ban the knuckleball.

What I really don't get is why they're doing it when we have a 0.5 game lead on the Rays. If it was 3 or more maybe I could understand it.
They're just begging to play that one game playoff.

This is exactly why I thought if they wanted to give everyone a days rest they shouldve started Peavy last Turs or Workman tonight.
This is baseball ops trying too be too smart and failing.
ADDED: now with a touch of true irony, Workman in with a 3 run deficit. Brilliant.

If we were willing to let Workman piggy back....WHY THE FUCK WOULDN'T YOU JUST START HIM.
Disgraceful.

Workman throwing 95 MPH. Must look like 110 to those batters.
I don't agree that starting Wright was stupid. He pitched very well in relief, and was pitching very well at Pawtucket. The problem with knuckleballers is that they have some bad games now and then, and this was one. He could start another and do much better, although I sort of doubt he will get another chance this year.

So, um, why did Wright get the start over Workman in the first place?
I will lose faith in the Red Sox if Wright isn't DFAed immediately after this game. Or right now.

I think everyone is either too young or has too short a memory to know what it was like having Wakefield ten years ago.
1) You need a very good defensive catcher to behind the plate.
2) If you put a mediocre defensive catcher behind the plate, the game will get ugly.
There is a reason Doug Maribelli had a job in Boston for years. Varitek could not catch the knuckle ball.

Personally, I'm trying to forget.
This organization needs to move past its obsession with the knuckleball. It's becoming embarrassing at this point.

Never use a knuckle ball pitcher again.
Thanks.

Workman is a starter. He is meant to be one. In his 3 starts this year, he did very well. As a reliever, well... bad. He is obviously not comfortable coming out of the 'pen.

Well at least we won't have to see this team in the playoffs.

So, um, why did Wright get the start over Workman in the first place? Baffling series of decisions by the Red Sox tonight. I don't really even know what to say about it.
