Who gives a shit about a meaningless Patriots pre-season game? Notwithstanding the fact that team is probably going nowhere this season, its just irrelevant to this game.

At least TB and BAL are both losing as of this post.

This game just got interesting again.
EDIT: nevermind, they took away Carp's HBP and the ump made a terrible, terrible call for strike three. Wow.

Personally I think we will find someday that some umps are on the take. For real. And I know Petitt wasn't pitching on the Carp call but he has made a living off of that bullshit for 15 years now. When does it end?

Come on guys. The call on Carp was bad, but another soft tossing lefty shut the sox down. Not the umps.

By the way, if John Farrell uses Mike Carp as a pinch-hitter for the platoon advantage in a clutch situation and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Well, every team goes through their ups and downs, and Boston is obviously struggling right now. With the slight regressions of Lackey and Doubie, and the inconsistencies of Lester, this team could use Clay more than ever. I still like our chances down the stretch when Buch is healthy and X provides a jolt against southpaws.

Ryan Hannable ?@hannable84 2m Doubront says his struggles in his past two outings are mechanical and he has four days to correct them. Said he has an idea of what's wrong

What ever you think it means. Then I'll rephrase it: What does that post accomplish? Nothing about that game was a farce, you just seem to enjoy acting like you've never seen your team lose. It's not a farce, the hottest hitter on the planet just kept being the hottest hitter on the planet. It's not a farce, one baseball team just scored runs off another baseball team. It's not a farce, it's just the continuation of the struggles that the Red Sox have had all season against left handed pitchers. The only farce is that you think that "What a farce." is a worthwhile thing to post.

This team over-achieved over its first 3 1/2 months and has been regressing back to the pack over the last month or so. Baring a total collapse similar to 2011, they may still make the playoffs which is better than most expected. Their play over the past week has been been pretty bad, particularly in the field and base running. Things will turn around, but it is going to be a tight race for the playoffs.

Well during a bad stretch we increased the lead on TB to 4 until the last few days. We're a good team but we need a healthy Buch and someone to step up and give Ortiz some protection.

Might also be time to sit Doubrant another start and give him a breather, like a couple months back. he looked tired and lost last night. Workman can give them one, not like they don't have options to make one now that the team didn't really have the last time. My issue with the rotation? The wheels just seem to be coming off of them all, except for Lackey and Doubront since June. Still not ready to count on lester for anything even though he had thrown 2-3 decent starts there, he's too erratic. Hard to advance, much less get to the PO with 2 decent SP and the rest at or below replacement level, not counting Buch of course.

Seven errors in the last three days, plus a number of other bad defensive plays (Nunez's triple, Mibblebrooks misplaying a ball the day before). Don't put it all on the pitchers.
