Watching Uehara use his splitter off his FB is a thing of beauty. Hitters just look completely baffled up there.

Guys, Bogaerts is a 20 year old playing a tight race in a very, very big game. If he can't handle being PH for, he can't handle being in the majors. Carp was the better option right now and it worked. Stop overthinking everything, jesus. He was an even better option when Napoli was batting. Not the same situation, the bases were empty. If you say Carp should be playing instead of Napoli, I can't disagree with you. But I have no problem with trying to shield Bogaerts from the pressure of the situation (guy on scoring position, 2 outs, 8 inning, big game). Plus, this is Boston. The press will work really hard to find a way to talk shit about him, just like the fans do with the manager. Babysteps, man.

Nah, I'm gonna keep posting whatever I want. You can feel free to not respond to me, though. Fair enough. Who am I to try to stop you from making a fool of yourself? Exactly. And I'm not gonna stop you from making yourself look like the miserable human being you are. If you haven't figured out by now that at least half of what I say is sarcastic/not serious, then I don't know what to tell you.

Not the greatest game but one of the better wins for sure. Koji gets them in order again. It's weird to think of what this team would be like if the pen had just the normal amount of inj's.

What a win!! Feels like we've lost 8-10 games like that against Baltimore since Sept 2011. How many line drives did we hit tonight? Only karma that the O's lost on a bloop. Cleveland just lost too. Playoff baseball in 2013!! Can you believe it??

Nothing beats going from listening to Eck all game to listening to Jim Rice.
Aside from, well, anything.

Awesome win. Now we need to hear about Ells status. He looked like he was hurting after that slide at home.

Dude, look at his OPS vs righties. Which is why he should have hit for Napoli. Oh I totally agree. Look at my posts earlier in the day. I was baffled why Carp wasn't starting for Napoli.

LOL! It's taking the counter-factual in all new directions! The unprovable counter-factual to a successful decision is an even more successful decision. What you are doing is using confirmation bias. Carp was better used in place of Napoli. Confirmation bias? I don't think that means what you think it means ... confirmation bias (giving facts importance based on how they conform to preconceived notions) has nothing to do with what I was doing. What I was doing was, in fact, much simpler: laughing at the levels to which Farrell-complaining has sunk around here. The Sox win a tight game in exciting fashion because a guy Farrell chose to pinch hit drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th, and that decision is somehow wrong because ... Xander would be damaged. Or it would've been better to pinch hit for the first batter of the inning when the bases were empty. Or the guy who got the hit should've been playing all along because he would've actually won the game earlier. Or something.

There's no question they're losing this one. I wonder what the Sox record is when you post stuff like this. It has to be a at a 100 win pace...

That's not a joke either. I'm not usually superstitious, but I'm gonna milk this one for awhile (even if it annoys some people on here).

Watching Uehara use his splitter off his FB is a thing of beauty. Hitters just look completely baffled up there. Uehara's record the last 3 years speaks for itself. Either someone was going to catch up to one of his pitches and hit it out, or the game was over. It has been virtually impossible to manufacture offense against him. Nine pitches, 3 outs. Might as well swing early because he walks practically no one. The supporting beauty of his exceptional control is that AB end early and his innings aren't pitch-laden.

It is extremely rare. I am not opposed to pinch hitting for Bogaerts, per se. I just think there was a terrible use of resources.

Fair enough ... it was more that your post was a good example of what goes on around here a lot than that I was reacting to it directly, really. The unprovable counterfactual is a staple of Farrell-complaining, just as it was Francona-complaining back in the day.

I was mostly annoyed by the fact that Farrell seems very determined stick with Napoli regardless of the situation, but has no hesitation of pinch hitting for Bogaerts.

That was another great win. Great to see them beat Buck Showalter's Orioles, especially with the way they've gotten off on beating up the Sox the past few years. This team continues to astound. They're a gutsy team. Just hope they can hold off TB and avoid the one game playoff.
