Squander after squander after squander. Sooner or later these opportunities are going to cease. They need to capitalize and they're failing to do so. This series will be going back to Boston. I had a bad feeling about this series, even when they were up 2-0. Everything just seemed too perfect. Their situational hitting was great at Fenway and awful in Tampa. It's going to come down to Price again, which was something I didn't worry about if Cleveland or Texas had won. So far the Sox have yet to beat Tampa when everything is on the line. The Rays have won the big games since 2008. The Sox need to get some balls and change this.

Not Pedroia's fault, but Drew might have gotten the out there.

What an absurd amount of LOBs already... For those keeping track thats 3-18 with RISP as well in Tampa Edit-would Pedroia stay on his side of the bag!-I love the fact that he realizes he is killin us at the plate and wants to help some way, needs to just settle down some in the field.

Pedroia needs to ChillTFO on running to the other side of the 2B bag and taking/trying to take balls Drew has a much easier play on. Awkward angle throwing across body, weaker arm in general make it a terrible idea.
EDIT: Peavy coming through big time. 46 pitches after 4.

Five straight groundballs, and 7-4 ground / air ratio.

Nice job of hitting with two strikes by Middlebrooks.

Nice piece of hitting by Will after the ump tried to screw him over (apparently ankle-high pitches are strikes now?).

LOL, that pitch that hit Victorino was three inches from being a strike.

Getting HBP effectively is a teachable skill. But you're not supposed to take it on the elbow.

I will admit Im shocked Maddon took Moore out so early, maybe I gave him too much credit and he is just crazy.

Here's a nice equation for statheads. 8 baserunners * 0 runs = 0 chance to win the game.

In my experience and, I hope unbiased memory, these kind of frustrating games usually resolve via a breakthrough inning -- typically the sixth or seventh.
Furthermore, the more guys they bring in, the better the odds that one of them has nothing.

Either that or the opportunities soon dry up.

Need to score some runs here.
On the bright side, Maddon flat out LaRussaing it means we will soon enough do just that (for crying out loud).

Here's a nice equation for statheads. 8 baserunners * 0 runs = 0 chance to win the game. They've all been singles or walks so far. Tough to win a game without extra-base hits.
